Mise O Jeu Online Betting

For most sports fans that reside in Quebec, Mise-O-Jeu is the main betting house, and the only option used and trusted because it’s run by the provincial lottery. What most Quebec residents don’t know is that Mise-O-Jeu isn’t the only way to bet on sports in Canadian provinces. While Mise-O-Jeu offers a convenient way to bet on sports at any location where lottery tickets are sold, Mise-O-Jeu sports betting isn’t the only option available.

What makes betting on Mise-O-Jeu limiting, and much like other Canadian run sportsbooks, is that the betting odds aren’t comparable to the big online sportsbooks - you must bet a minimum of two wagers per bet slip (also called a parlay wager) and a maximum of eight. Single-game wagering is integral to any sports betting strategy, while parlays are much riskier to the sports bettor.

When you decide to bet on sports, we want you to understand and weigh all of your options and if you’re choosing to bet on Mise-O-Jeu betting odds, you should be aware of all available options, and we’re here to help with that.

What is a Parlay?

Before we dig in and talk about Mise-O-Jeu, we should outline parlay wagers, since that’s the only method of betting available.

Parlay wagers are multi-leg bets, with two or more wagers (in the case of Mise-O-Jeu, up to eight), that combine the odds to create one large bet slip - which ultimately leads to a huge payout if all of your predictions are correct. Every wager on your bet slip must be correct though. If you bet on eight different games on a parlay slip on any given NFL Sunday, you would need each and every one of those eight wagers to cash to win your ticket.

If you made those eight selections and managed to pick the right teams, your payout could be thousands of dollars. Some Canadian bettors are actually quite good at predicting the game outcomes, raking in huge payouts with the right picks. However, be aware these bets are extremely risky, the more games you add, the more risk you add.

About Mise-O-Jeu

Mise-O-Jeu was released in 2004, alongside PlayNow in British Columbia, and began accepting wagers at lottery kiosks around the province. They have been restricted by the same regulations and rules that all other provinces struggle with: no single game bets. While many provinces have updated their products to include more betting options or more sports, Mise-O-Jeu has been pretty standard, but recently just added live betting to their repertoire.

If you were to sign up at Mise-O-Jeu, you will need to create an account, live in the province, and prove you reside there, as well as your age. You can use a major credit card to fund your account - which is nice, some offshore sportsbooks have limited card options - but many do accept MasterCard and Visa. The one benefit to Canadian sportsbooks is that they accept Interac Debit transactions as well.

To bet offline, you will fill out a bet slip and receive a transaction number you can take to your local Loto-Quebec kiosk where you can submit your bet.

While Mise-O-Jeu is vastly similar to Pro-Line, which you’d find in neighboring provinces, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces, we don’t believe it’s even close to being comparable to offshore sportsbooks.

Mise-O-Jeu Betting Odds

While many Canadians believe that Mise-O-Jeu is the only option available, we that know about offshore online betting sites know that to be false. While it seems like the best option because it’s regulated within Canada and run by the local lottery, it simply can’t measure up to online sportsbooks.

Mise-O-Jeu has possibly the worst odds in all of Canada. They force you to place parlay wagers, and even then, their odds just are not nearly as competitive as an offshore sportsbook. You essentially lose over 20 cents off every dollar by betting on Mise-O-Jeu.

You could create a five-game parlay on Mise-O-Jeu with a $10 wager, only to payout $40 but you could create that exact parlay on a sports betting site like BetOnline or Everygame and the payout would be $70.

Another flaw we see a Mise-O-Jeu is a restriction on single-game wagers like we outlined above. Betting on multiple games can sometimes be too risky if the right bet isn’t there. If you don’t have the option to just bet on one game, you are missing out big time on the true sports betting experience.

Forcing parlays just forces sports bettors to throw their money away, especially beginner bettors. Only experienced bettors really know how to win week after week with parlay betting. Mise-O-Jeu doesn’t have the expert oddsmakers on staff that can predict game outcomes accurately and confidently enough to have the betting odds that a big sportsbook like Bodog would, so they need to lower the odds to protect themselves.

Simply put, you get better odds and way higher payouts on offshore sportsbooks, and you also can place single-game wagers. And did we mention that offshore sportsbooks have bonuses? Mise-O-Jeu does not have any bonuses available to users.

Mise-O-Jeu Betting Options

While Mise-O-Jeu has made minor improvements the past decade and has added more betting options and sports, like the UFC and combat sports, for example, it still just can’t compete with the variety that offshore sportsbooks have.

For any professional sports game, Mise-O-Jeu offers the moneyline, spread, and total options, but offshore books have upwards of 50 or more betting options available for each game. You can bet on almost any instance in a game on a site like Bodog or MyBookie.

A nice touch that Mise-O-Jeu has introduced in-game betting, which allows you to place wagers on instances that happen while the game is going on.

Mise-O-Jeu Bonuses and Promotions

Mise-O-Jeu does not offer any bonuses or promotions to its users. This is a huge missed opportunity because bettors who are rewarded for their loyalty and able to double their bankroll in some situations will bet more in the long run.

Most sportsbooks offer great sign-up bonuses and promotional offers for their customers. Bonuses are very common at the top sportsbooks and online casinos to keep their players happy. Many offer upwards of $200 in sign-up bonuses to their customers once they place their first bet.

Mise-O-Jeu Betting Alternatives

Getting the most value for your betting dollars should be your biggest priority. If you’re placing a bet, you want the best odds of winning, and you want to risk less for more reward. In the case of Mise-O-Jeu, you can tell they’re trying to step it up by introducing live betting, but they still don’t offer single-game bets, and their odds just aren’t up to par with offshore sportsbooks.

The top online sportsbooks like XBet or MyBookie are safe and reliable, offer great odds, big bonuses, and ultimately - single-game wagers. There are tons of online sportsbooks available to Canadian and Quebec residents, so it’s just a matter of reading detailed sportsbook reviews and choosing one that best suits your needs.

We have a list of criteria we look for when reviewing sportsbooks, and thoroughly vet sportsbooks before we recommend them. While Mise-O-Jeu is an okay product, and convenient for Quebec residents, we believe you’re better off at one of the above sportsbooks.
