Ladbrokes also made attempts to establish a presence in the United States. Most notably, it entered the Nevada market in 2013 by acquiring a chain of sportsbook operations, bringing its UK heritage to the American scene. However, despite this foothold, Ladbrokes struggled to build significant brand recognition in a market that rapidly became dominated by domestic operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM after the repeal of PASPA in 2018. By the early 2020s, Ladbrokes had fully withdrawn, choosing instead to focus on its core territories and new regulated markets overseas.
With nearly a century and a half of history behind it, Ladbrokes is widely regarded as one of Britain’s “big four” traditional bookmakers, standing alongside William Hill, Coral, and Betfred. Its red branding and high-street shops remain fixtures of British sports culture, and its early adoption of digital platforms helped cement its reputation in online betting.
