UFC Betting News This Week | UFC 250 Freedom Card, Market Watch & Fight Analysis | May, 2026
The UFC Freedom 250 card, you know, the one taking place in front of the White House, has sapped all the attention of the sport for months. As it should be given the location and buzz, this event will end up generating just in time for America’s 250th anniversary.
Many of the UFC’s best fighters, Sean O’Malley, Alex Pereira, and Ilia Topuria, have been shelved for months because they’re headlining this card. That’s left current UFC fight cards lacking star power, but NOT excitement and/or betting opportunity.

First things first, what are the marquee UFC fights happening in the next month? The ones you need to put on your radar right now? We’ve listed them below, plus some quick UFC betting analysis on the matchup:
Biggest UFC betting storylines in May
UFC news moves fast and furious, but here are the rare and recent headlines that actually matter to bettors and how so:
Chimaev is moving up to light heavyweight
Arman Tsarukyan is UFC Freedom 250 backup:
Hokit earns himself a White House card spot:
Largest UFC line movements this May
One of the biggest edges you can ever have as a bettor is to spot line movements. By that, we mean when odds swing big-time in one direction.
This could be due to news (an injury happened) or, and this is where the edge lies, betting activity. Say if sharp bettors (aka professionals) are piling on one side of the bet, they might know something. That’s not to say they’re never wrong, but they’re pros for a reason, and you should at least be aware of which side of a wager they’re leaning toward.
We want to share some of the biggest line shifts we’ve seen in the last few weeks. It’s on you to act or not act on this info, but you should know how odds are shifting in real time. Here are some examples:
- Ilia Topuria: moved up to a -650 to -750 at BetOnline (depending on which bookie you use) favorite over Justin Gaethje in the White House card main event. For reference, he opened at -500 to win. Bettors will likely have to hit the prop market to make money off a Topuria win because there’s no value in -700 or so betting odds.
- Sean Strickland vs. Khazmat Chimaev: Alright, this is pure hindsight since the fight already passed, but it's something to remember for the future when you're picking fights. Chimaev opened the fight at -400 and closed at -500 with Everygame — despite looking noticeably off during his weigh-in. Bettors failed to act on this info almost entirely because of Chimaev's reputation as a dominant wrestler (and perhaps the belief that Strickland was over the hill too). Of course, Chimeav did look off in the bout, and Strickland won. All this is to say that sports betting is NOT a perfectly efficient market. If you're paying close attention, you can find mispriced value.
UFC fight odds we’re fading
One of the clear signs of a successful bettor is evaluating fights not just in terms of style or who wins, but in terms of betting value for the given wager. Simply put, the best bettors stay away from fights if the risk-reward ratio isn’t there.
Which is why we want a section to outline some markets where, perhaps, the money is way too titles in one side. So much so that you should consider skipping the bet, if not, playing contrarian.
Admittedly, these suggestions will be harder to come by. Most UFC bookies are pros and adjust lines quickly if one side of the betting market is getting too thick. But… a few things do slip by, and we’ll try to call them out here, including this one:
- Bo Nickal at -330 to win over Kyle Daukaus at the UFC Freedom 250 feels a little rich for a fighter who got KO'd about a year ago. Yes, he did bounce back and win his next fight, but the layer of invincibility is gone for Nickal. Daukaus is also on a 5-fight win streak so, again, the -330 line feels mispriced to us.
Most-bet UFC markets right now
Curious to know which betting markets are getting the most dollars and interest? We got you covered here!
Bettors are clamoring to prop bet who'll be the UFC light heavyweight champion at the end of 2026. You can do this wager at every division, but… the light heavyweight division is extra intriguing right now. That’s because the new champion, Carlos Ulberg, tore his ACL in that miracle KO win over Jiri Prochazka at UFC 327. He'll be out of action for six to 12 months, which means we could have a new champion to bet on since, in theory, he’ll have to vacate it (that call has not officially been made yet, though). Ulberg is still the betting favorite in this market, but light heavyweight newcomer Chimaev is the next-best-favored fighter.
A future bet garnering significant interest is a potential Conor McGregor comeback fight vs. Max Holloway. This bout is being heavily rumored to happen during International Fight Week in mid-July. Nothing is official, but bettors are already putting money down in mass on it. At most bookies, Holloway is -350 to win, while McGregor is a +225 underdog.
Previous UFC betting news you might’ve missed
- [4-14-26]: Jorge Masvidal is plotting a UFC comeback and wants it against Leon White, too. Dana White confirmed at UFC 327 that they are in talks with him on a comeback. Masvidal hasn’t fought in the octagon since 2023, but remains a huge name in MMA. There’s been a lot of talk about UFC lacking star power nowadays, but a return fight from Masvidal would certainly quiet that down temporarily. Then again, UFC let big stars like Ronda Rousey and Nate Diaz sign elsewhere, so there’s no guarantee they’ll open the checkbook for “Gamebred.”
- [4-11-26]: Gable Stevenson has signed with the UFC, it was announced at the 327 show. He’ll make his debut at UFC 329, the International Fight Week card. Expectations are sky high for Stevenson, a two-time NCAA heavyweight champion in wrestling and a 2020 gold medalist. The UFC heavyweight division is lacking talent, and many think Stevenson could have a Brock Lesnar-like ascendence in the weight class.
