There is truly nothing better than a trilogy fight and that's exactly what we'll get on Saturday, September 17th when Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin clash for the third time and the first in four years. The undisputed super middleweight championship is on the line here. Their first meeting in 2017 ended in a split draw and had no shortage of controversy, while Alvarez came out victorious in 2018 via majority decision. This bout will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the same location as the previous two fights.  Canelo is a heavy -600 favorite to win, while Golovkin is a notable underdog at +400. Alvarez, who hails from Guadalajara, Mexico, turned professional way back in 2006 and has beaten some big names in his career including Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto, and Shane Mosley, among others. He owns a lifetime 57-2-2 record. Since his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2013, Alvarez is 15-1-1. The Mexican was actually unbeaten in eight fights following the draw with Golovkin in 2017 before losing to Dmitry Bivol in a light heavyweight bout back in May, which proved to be a big jump for the super middleweight champ. Alvarez actually took down IBF super middleweight title-holder Caleb Plant last November. This upcoming fight is extremely important for the 32-year-old Alvarez as he looks to solidify his legacy as one of the best boxers to ever step in the ring. All five super middleweight titles are on the line next Saturday, too. Coming off his first loss in eight years, you better believe Alvarez has something to prove here and another chance to be a bitter rival like Golovkin will light his eyes up. Don't sleep on him in the Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin picks.

Golovkin turned pro just a year before Alvarez in 2005. The Kazakhstan native is an impressive 42-1-1 in his career and first captured the WBA title in 2010 and then became the IBO champ a year later. While Alvarez has fought quite a bit since their last meeting, the same cannot be said for Golovkin. He's stepped in the ring just four times, winning all four bouts. The 40-year-old most recently beat Ryota Murata via ninth-round TKO back in April. During his long, successful career, Golovkin has defeated many notable names in the middleweight class before taking on Canelo, including Daniel Jacobs, Kell Brook, and David Lemieux. While Alvarez is fresh off a loss, this could potentially be Golovkin's last fight. After all, he's no spring chicken anymore and his skills have tapered off slightly since these two last met four years ago. It's a long time coming, but perhaps Golovkin can go out with a bang.

Over/Under Value

Alvarez and Golovkin have fought a total of 24 rounds through their first two meetings. In other words, each eight went the full 12. I expect that to happen again, or at least close to it. Neither guy ever gets knocked out and it's unlikely to happen here, too. It'll be a battle there is no question about it, but it's probably going to end via split decision or unanimous decision. The over 10.5 rounds at -200 looks appealing in the Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin picks.

Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin Final Pick

I really think you'll see Canelo bounce back with authority here. Don't be surprised to see him come out full throttle and wear down Golovkin from the very start. Alvarez likes to do damage with body shots and that could very well be his way to get to Golovkin. We also have to remember the big difference in age here. It's a total of eight years. That's notable. Between the motivation Canelo has after his shocking loss and the advantage of being notably younger, he is the clear-cut pick to win this trilogy fight in Sin City.
