Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry Betting Picks 07-20-2024

In our latest boxing betting picks we look ahead to Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry in Tampa on July 20th. The two men will meet in the boxing ring at the Amalie Arena. Paul, the YouTuber turned boxer is the favorite to beat Perry, the former UFC fighter, now earning a living in bare-knuckle boxing.

  • Who: Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry
  • Where: Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida
  • When: Saturday, July 20th, 2024
  • Ring Walks: 10 p.m ET Onwards

The Problem Child was originally supposed to face Mike Tyson on July 20th. Unfortunately, Tyson had to withdraw from the flight on medical grounds. That contest is instead now set to take place in November.

Not one to sit on his hands until November, Jake Paul has drafted in bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry to take Tyson’s place.

Jake Paul is the bigger man, and many pundits believe his size advantage makes him the more likely to win the showdown.

But Mike Perry is a proven fighter. He has had a distinguished career in the UFC and is now the (beaten-up) face of the BKFC promotion, where he boasts a 5-0 record in bare-knuckle fights.

Such is the lure of a Jake Paul fight, Perry was happy to step out of the world of bare-knuckle fighting to don the boxing gloves for only the second time in his career.

It’s a golden opportunity for Perry. If he wins, he could even get a lucrative rematch. If he loses, he is still getting a huge payday. And at the very least he is raising his profile, which could lead to even more lucrative bouts further down the road.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry Betting Odds

First up, this is an eight-round contest sanctioned at the 200-pound weight class.

Jake Paul is a natural at this weight, whereas Mike Perry is used to fighting at 185 pounds in BKFC and was even lighter at 170 pounds in the UFC before that.

Hypothetically, if this is an even-weight contest, even given Jake Paul’s impressive transition into boxing, we would still have to favor Mike Perry for the win. The man is a fighting machine who knows how to brawl.

But it isn’t an even weight contest, and as a result, Jake Paul is the favorite given his superior weight advantage.

On the money line, Jake Paul is -350, and Mike Perry is +250.

Mike Perry Career Breakdown

Mike Perry is a very experienced fighter who has been around the block a good few times in his career.

In the boxing ring, Perry has had one professional fight. That ended in defeat to Kenneth McNeil in 2015.

Perry also has a distinguished career in MMA, with an overall record of 14-8. He started well, boasting a 7-0 record when he joined the UFC promotion. But things didn’t go well in Dana White’s organization, and he left the promotion in 2021 with a disappointing 7-8 record.

It’s in bare-knuckle boxing where Perry has excelled. Here he seems to have found a spiritual home. Perry joined the BKFC promotion in 2021, where he is unbeaten with a 5-0 record.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry Betting Picks and Predictions

Going down the props bets route might be the most profitable here. Why? Because it is essentially an exhibition fight.

Under normal circumstances, how could we back a YouTuber to beat an experienced MMA fighter? We couldn’t. But that doesn’t mean Jake Paul won’t win. Paul is the bigger man and he has a very good boxing technique.

He will have had the best training and preparation heading into this fight, and along with his size difference, he should be good enough to keep Perry at arm's length.

Perry won’t win this on points. If you feel Perry will win, then back him to win by KO/TKO/DQ.

As for Jake Paul, he is too short to be backed on the money line at -350. We feel he wins the fight, But we are looking at alternative markets to back.

Our alternative pick is for the fight to end early. Perry will go looking for a quick finish. He will also want to entertain. It could lead to more lucrative fights.

Perry will either connect with a big shot or get taken out by Paul while looking for his own KO. The props markets aren't live yet. When they are, a bet on either man to win by KO or under on the total rounds market is the way to go.
