College Football Betting News This Month | Notre Dame continues rise in offseason rankings Market Watch & Analysis | June, 2026

Moving into the teeth of summer, the main top teams noted in prior reports have stayed near the top of the college football futures markets for the 2026 season. As noted in prior articles, Ohio State and Indiana have been near the top of the rankings, but a familiar favorite, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, have been climbing steadily in the offseason. Noted in other futures markets, the Irish are now +700. Ohio State is still the overall favorite at +650. Overall, the top five of the teams are all clustered between +650 and +800, with other schools like Indiana, Texas, and Oregon in the mix.  Of course, for additional analysis like the ones offered in this report from OSB, the college football betting sites guide is a must-read resource. This includes all kinds of fantastic insights and even more additional notes on the sport.

This weekʼs biggest NCAAF offseason betting storylines

As the offseason heads into full gear, there are a couple of summer storylines that have appeared over time, especially down in Texas.

False Lane Kiffin to LSU Claim

Wrong Ole Miss “Former Crew” Reference

Incorrect Ole Miss Staff-Departure Claim

Perhaps the most defining narrative of the offseason is head coach Lane Kiffin taking the top spot over at LSU (+1600 national championship futures). This move, of course, sent a shockwave through the SEC power structure after Kiffin achieved notable success at rival Ole Miss.

Kiffin's former crew, the Ole Miss Rebels, is currently pegged at +3000 to win the national championship.
Regarding both in the SEC, LSU has a +900 shot to win the conference, while Ole Miss is not far behind at +1100. Last year was a very peculiar one for the latter as they advanced through the College Football Playoff, but had to deal with the impending departure of not only their head coach, but also most of his coaching staff as well.

Recognized as a preseason top ten squad, Texas Tech at +2200 is still a strong contender. This has been covered in the space before, but the story has grown extensively around Red Raiders’ transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who has been under NCAA investigation for extensive sports betting activity. Since then, court filings and media reports have revealed an array of new information. This includes 2,900 wagers totaling about $90,000 over four years and at least 40 bets involving Indiana football while he was on Indiana’s roster.

Additionally, it was shown that he had continued betting activity after transferring schools, and the NCAA has already denied his reinstatement request. Even though the bets are reportedly on Indiana to win, and there is no evidence of game manipulation, NCAA rules are very harsh on betting on your own team to win. However, the risk profile has changed a bit at Texas Tech with Sorsby’s eligibility potentially having lasting impacts on what the Red Raiders’ season will look like. Some speculation online thinks that if the quarterback misses part of the season, the preseason odds could drift higher to +3000, and if he is ineligible, then they could go even higher to around +5000.

Largest NCAAF line moves and total changes this week

  • CJ Carr (+650) continues his ascent as a Heisman Trophy favorite, with his preseason numbers continuing to improve. In the last update, he was noted at +750 to win the Heisman next season.
  • Carr is the starting quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and last year had a top-five national quarterback rating and was recognized as top-two nationally in yards per attempt according to several analysts.
  • After sitting behind Riley Leonard, he threw for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns last year in 2025. Should he continue his ascent, he could also be tabbed as a top pick next season.
  • It would also be fair to conclude that Carr’s rise has also buoyed Notre Dame’s overall chances as a contender, since they have moved into the number two spot by some sportsbooks.

Looking at how the offseason lines have moved, Carr and Arch Manning (Texas, +700 to +800) have been primarily duking it out at the top of the rankings. In an interesting note, though, Miami’s Darian Mensah (+900 to +1400) has also accrued approximately 7% of the offseason shares of Heisman odds via some popular prediction markets. The quarterback had some spectacular campaigns at Tulane and Duke, where he racked up the yards. Last year for Duke, he notched a 9-5 record along with 3,973 yards and 34 passing scores. Mensah, however, is still outside the top three for overall Heisman odds, but could make a jump as the offseason progresses and the Hurricanes pick up some good press.

NCAAF prospect news, pro days, and betting impact

Following an exciting NFL Draft, a couple of new storylines have emerged as the best in college football from last season are set to take the stage as pro football’s next generation. Of course, these top picks all have huge ramifications on the NFL Rookie of the Year Awards for both offensive and defensive players. In this portion of the update, OSB will be going over who the favorites are for these ROTY honors and how their odds have changed in the offseason.

  • David Bailey (+500 to win the Defensive ROTY), going No.2 overall to the New York Jets, is set to make a huge impact for Gang Green this upcoming year. In the past, this award has typically favored edge rushers, with recent winners including Will Anderson Jr., Micah Parsons, and Chase Young. Voters love high-impact plays like sacks. Also, being the first defensive player drafted gives a lot of style points as well, especially after leading the FBS with 14.5 sacks last year. His main opponent in the early rankings for the award is Tampa Bay’s Ruben Bain at +525.
  • Regarding the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, Arizona running back Jeremiyah Love has risen to the top of the heap to win the honor. In the last report, his odds for winning the award in the future were around +300 to +320. Since then, markets have drifted mainly between +300 and +430. Given the setup in the desert, Love is slated to acquire a high workload in the Cardinals’ offense and could be the centerpiece of the Arizona attack. In his sophomore and junior seasons, he scored an amazing 35 touchdowns while amassing nearly 2,500 rushing yards.
  • Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza was selected by the Raiders first overall and is still in second place for the Offensive Rookie of the Year race. In his last report, his odds were just behind those of Love at around +350 to +400.  Now they have moved between +375 and +430. The Raiders will have a new-look offense this year under the direction of head coach Klint Kubiak. However, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins is currently at the top of Las Vegas’ depth chart.

Most bet NCAAF props and markets

A variety of schools also have early markets on how many wins they achieve in 2026. This includes teams in the Big 12, Big Ten, SEC, and more.

  • Ohio State is still the projected winner to win the Big Ten Conference championship at +180. In the last OSB update, the Buckeyes were at +190. Indiana has risen steadily at +250 (when they were +260 in the last report), while Oregon is at +260 to win the conference title. The top three have not changed much here, and USC is a distant fourth at +1400.
  • The Miami Hurricanes are still the favorites to win the ACC at -135 (they were -140 in the last report). Indeed, though, the Hurricanes are a dominant favorite here with SMU still trailing at +700. Rounding out the top three are the Louisville Cardinals at +800. Miami is a strong favorite here thanks to a stacked roster of playmakers.
  • Going back to our usual Texas A&M update, the Aggies have an 8.5-win total, with the over favored at -118 in our last OSB update, and moving to -120. Now the line has moved back to -110 for this particular market. Under third-year head coach Mike Elko, the team is adjusting to significant turnover on the offensive line and defense as well.
