  • What: LA Kings vs Vancouver Canucks
  • Where: Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC
  • When: 10 PM ET on Friday, November 18th

It's a quiet slate across the NHL on Friday, November 18th, with just one game on the schedule. That's the Los Angeles Kings continuing their road trip against the lowly Vancouver Canucks up in British Columbia at Rogers Arena. It's the first meeting of the year between these two teams. The Kings lost a 6-5 thriller to the Calgary Flames on Monday but bounced back Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers thanks to a Trevor Moore hat-trick, taking his tally to five goals and 10 assists on the year. The Canucks meanwhile, beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 on Tuesday, ending a three-game losing skid. Read on for the Kings vs Canucks odds.

LA Kings-1.5 (-215)-115Ov 6.5 (+100)
Vancouver Canucks+1.5 (-255)+104Un 6.5 (-110)

The Kings are favored by 1.5 on the puckline and sit at moneyline odds of -115. The Nucks come back at +104. LA has gone 4-4 as a favorite this season. Vancouver has been an underdog in all 11 of their games.

Despite the odds, the Canucks are actually playing very well against Los Angeles in recent memory, winning seven of the last eight matchups.

LA vs Vancouver Betting Preview

The Kings are cruising this year, sitting at 11-7-1 which is good for second place in the Pacific. They're not necessarily standing out in any particular area, but LA is just playing solid hockey on a nightly basis. Todd McLellan's group is scoring 3.32 goals per game (13th) and allowing 3.37 goals per contest (23rd). Leading the offense is center Gabriel Vilardi, who has scored 10 goals and tallied five assists. Five others have at least five goals, with winger Kevin Fiala also bagging six and contributing 12 assists, a team-best.

Following a hard-fought 6-5 defeat in Calgary, the Kings came out to play in Edmonton, getting revenge on their playoff loss to the Oilers last season. Moore was brilliant here, scoring his first-ever hat trick with a goal in each period. The blue line limited Edmonton to just 23 shots and Cal Petersen made 22 saves. Viktor Arvidsson meanwhile, assisted all three of Moore's goals. After Friday's game, LA finishes up their road trip in Seattle on Saturday before heading back to California.

The Canucks are in shambles at the moment and there are already rumblings they could fire head coach Bruce Boudreau. At 5-9-3 which puts them in seventh spot, Vancouver is struggling to find any type of consistency. They're actually managing to score quite a bit, ranking 10th with 3.41 goals per night. However, the problem is their defense, which is conceding an average of 4.06 goals. That's 30th in the NHL. The Nucks are also toward the bottom in penalty kill percentage and penalty minutes. Not a fun time to be a fan.

On a more positive note, they return home with a win under their belt, thanks to Bo Horvat. The 27-year-old center led the charge with a goal and two assists in Buffalo earlier in the week. In fact, five different players got their names on the scoresheet here. Netminder Spencer Martin also made 28 saves on 32 shots, improving his GAA to 3.49. This next stretch is going to be extremely tough for Vancouver though as they face numerous top teams. After the Kings come to town, it's the Vegas Golden Knights up next twice within six days and the defending champion Colorado Avalanche nestled in between.

Kings vs Canucks Prediction

If there is one team I'm comfortable taking the Canucks against, it's the Kings. They've got a solid track record versus their divisional foes. I'm liking the Vancouver moneyline.
