Betting UFC 300 Undercard

  • What: UFC 300
  • When: Saturday, April 14
  • Where: T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada

Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan Betting Pick

This fight opens up the main card — yes, an all-timer in Oliveira is the opener. That’s a testament to the depth of this card. Oliveira takes on Tsarukyan in a number-one contenders bout for the lightweight championship. When it comes to Oliveira vs. Tsarukyan, we’re most interested in betting the over/under. Here’s how the best UFC betting sites are pegging it:

Over 1.5 Rounds-135-135-135
Under 1.5 Rounds+105+105+105

Tsarukyan is a comfortable favorite to win at at -225. That’s because he’s only 27 years old, and as far as we’re concerned, he’s the real deal. He lost his first-ever UFC fight to Islam Makhachev, but since then Tsarukyan has gone 8-1. Aside from Islam, he’s the best wrestler in the division. We’ve seen him manhandle opponent after opponent.

However, Oliveira is a step up in completion for Tsarukyan. That’s because Oliveira is quite literally the most dangerous fighter in UFC history with 20 finishes — 16 of those coming via submission. Oliveira will make opponents pay for a single mistake so the threat of an early stoppage, and under, is always on the table.

But here’s the thing: we doubt Tsarukyan will be scared to go on the ground like last Oliveira opponents. Why? Because Tsarukyan has the advantage over Oliveira on the ground. That’s only happened one other time in recent memory for Oliveira, and it was against Makhachev. In that fight, Oliveira was submitted mid-way through the second round.

We could see this fight going the same way. Tsarukyan will have his way wrestling with Oliveira before making him submit. We do think it takes some time though so we’re betting the over. A late second-round or early third-round submission win by Tsarukyan feels imminent to us.

Aljo Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar Betting Pick

What a preliminary fight we have here as Sterling, the former bantamweight champion, moves up to featherweight. He immediately fights a tried-and-true contender in Kattar in what should be a close fight. The odds reflect that because Sterling is a slight favorite over Kattar on the moneyline:

Aljo Sterling-175-175-175
Calvin Kattar+145+145+145

The biggest variable when analyzing this fight is we’re not entirely sure what state Kattar is in. The Kattar of old was a pretty damn good fighter. He was a boxer at heart and not afraid to get into phone-booth fights because his chin was made of granite (Kattar has only been knocked out once in 30 fights). However, Kattar has been sidelined for 18 months. He blew out his knee in October 2022 and hasn’t been seen in the octagon since.

We’d argue that’s a bigger unknown than how Sterling responds to the new weight class. What made Sterling such an effective champion at bantamweight was his wrestling. However, that becomes less effective against larger opponents and that’s what we have here. Sterling is all of 5-foot-7 to Kattar’s 5-foot-11. It’ll be interesting to see if Sterling will be able to keep Kattar grounded in this fight.

So there’s question marks for both, but Kattar’s are more pressing to us. Not only did he have a year and a half layoff from the ring, but he’s also 36 years old now. We can’t imagine his striking will be nearly as good as it’s been over his career. If so, then Sterling wins this fight due to his takedown ability. Take Sterling’s moneyline here.

Kayla Harrison vs. Holly Holm Betting Pick

One of the best women’s fighters in the world, Harrison, makes her UFC debut in this one against the 42-year-old living legend Holm. No surprise, Harrison is a staggering favorite to beat Holm at -425. There’s no betting value in that so we’re wagering on the over/under instead. Here’s how the odds stand:

Over 2.5 Rounds-160-160-160
Under 2.5 Rounds+125+125+125

Harrison is as good as advertised. A two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo, she’s also 16-1 in MMA, lastly with PFL. We think she’s going to absolutely maul Holm in this fight — and we mean absolutely maul. This one ends before the 2.5-round mark by submission most likely, but maybe even knockout cause Harrison has sneaky good power too.
