Whenever NFL action gets back on the gridiron, it's of course wonderful news for Washington betting, as countless people are locked in on the Seattle Seahawks each and every game day. After winning the title last year and seeing their Super Bowl betting odds go up during the offseason too, the Seahawks are hoping to do the unthinkable to repeat. And with that said, there's no question that Washington betting is on the rise again with the Seahawks back in full force.

This is of course great news for the Washington sports betting handle, with sports betting tax revenue on the rise as well. This is only going to keep on going if the Seahawks can get back to the postseason, though the team's ups and downs have been a bit worrisome. Last week, the Seahawks lost to the Broncos in Denver, with the offense looking rough. For Week 7 NFL betting action, the Seahawks are hoping to take down the Kansas City Chiefs, with Sam Darnold needing to get back on track. His future in the 206 remains unclear.

"I'm a bit curious about Sam Darnold's situation, as he'll have one year left on his contract after this season," ESPN's Dan Graziano said in a new piece. "He is scheduled to make $35.5 million in 2027, but none of that money is guaranteed. There is a $10 million roster bonus that vests on the fifth day of the league year (March 16), so the Seahawks will want to decide by then whether they want him on next year's team. But if they do, they'd also look to extend him beyond that."

As things stand, the Seahawks hold +1500 odds to win the Super Bowl again this year, but keep in mind that just a few weeks ago that number was still at +700. There's still plenty of time for the Seahawks to turn the season around, and if they do, then people are going to keep on putting money down on them to win big and in style. It will be interesting to see if Seattle can flip the switch and push for the NFC West title too.

The Kalshi ban in Washington state will impact sports betting as a whole as well

Another thing to keep in mind here is that the Kalshi ban in Washington State will impact sports betting as a whole as well. Earlier this year, the courts ruled that Kalshi could no longer operate on certain types of activity in the state, including sports betting. There was a back and forth here, with Kalshi trying to push back.

However, a King County Superior Court Judge did what he could to make sure things wouldn't come back in full force. Because of this, people in the state are now having to lay their sports bets down the traditional way. There are plenty of in-person sportsbooks for people to check out as well, which is what the state wants.

People playing online bets through the prediction markets was something officials were opposed to. For now, there's no statewide online sports betting that is permitted. Sports betting is only allowed on tribal lands, and with the Kalshi ban in place, it indeed impacts things in a pretty sizable way. This will only continue moving forward.

MLB betting in Washington was down due to the Mariners have an off year

Looking elsewhere on things, it's safe to assume that MLB betting in Washington was down due to the Mariners having an off year. At this time last fall, the Mariners were in the ALCS, one win away from getting to the World Series for the first time in the organization's history. It would have been remarkable.

Instead of that happening, the Mariners lost Game 6 and Game 7 to the Toronto Blue Jays to crush those dreams. After retooling a bit during the offseason, the hope was that the Mariners would see their World Series betting odds climb, but this group ended up missing out on the playoffs as a whole.

It was truly devastating to see for the fanbase. To make matters worse, manager Dan Wilson ended up getting fired too. Add all of this up, and the betting numbers were not great at all over the summer. Only time will tell if the Mariners can improve in a monster way next season, but 2026 was a train wreck, period, and sports betting was impacted.
