We’re already approaching the end of the week and that means it’s time to look at some MLB betting picks for the stand-out mini-series running across the upcoming weekend. In the NL East this weekend, the LA Dodgers take on the Padres, while in the AL East, the Tampa Bay Rays host the New York Yankees.
The Dodgers would expect to make light work of the Padres, but the series between the Rays and Yankees promises to be more competitive with the Rays putting their decent home record on the line against one of the favorites to win the 2022 World Series.
Latest 2022 World Series Winner Betting
In the latest betting to win the 2022 World Series, the LA Dodgers are still out in front with the best MLB betting sites.
The Dodgers are just +300 to see off their rivals and win their second world series in three seasons. Just behind Dave Roberts’ team is the Houston Astros at +425, who are holding the second spot ahead of the New York Yankees (+475). The New York Mets (+500) are next, and then the Atlanta Braves (+1000).

|New York Yankees||+475||+450|
|New York Mets||+500||+525|
If you’re looking further afield for a long price bet, the in-form St Louis Cardinals are +2500 to win their first World Series since 2011.
LA Dodgers v San Diego Padres
The Dodgers host the Padres in a three-match mini-series starting at the Dodger Stadium on Friday night. The last time these two teams met was at this venue at the start of August. Back then the Dodgers ran out 3-0 winners in the series, winning the individual matches 8-1, 8-3, and 4-0.

So, what, if anything, has changed since then? And what chance the Padres can avoid a repeat of history?
Well, nothing has changed, if you want the short answer. The Dodgers have continued their excellent form, whilst the Padres have chugged along in their own Padres-like way.
The Padres haven’t done a great deal wrong. But sadly for Bob Melvin’s team, chugging along at your own pace isn’t going to see you taking down the Dodgers. To have any chance of pulling off the unexpected, Melvin will have to extract every ounce of energy he can muster from his chargers.

The Dodgers are currently the only team in the MLB with a win percentage better than .7 - it’s .703 to be precise. Their recent form has been fine, and across their last ten matches, they are 8-2. The Padres have a more moderate record, with a win percentage of .550, and a ten-match record of 6-4.
The Padres are slightly better than the average side. The Dodgers are the best side in the MLB. I can only see one winner of this mini-series, and I make the LA Dodgers my pick to take the series. Don’t be shy about betting on the 3-0 either.

Tampa Bay Rays v New York Yankees Picks
Elsewhere and it’s second against first in the AL East this weekend. Starting on Friday night, the Tampa Bay Rays host the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field for a best-of-three mini-series.
The Rays go into this match as the team in slightly better form, having a 8-2 record across their last ten matches. That’s compared to the Yankees, who are 6-4.

The Yankees have been a bit up and down lately, and it comes as no surprise to see them fall away in the betting to win the 2022 World Series. Just a few weeks back they were favorites.
Then after the Dodgers went on their winning run across July, they joined the Yankees at the top of the betting. Now, with the Yankees seemingly unable to respond, the Dodgers are out on their own.

Back to the mini-series, and the last time these two sides met was two weeks ago in New York. Back in that mini-series, the Rays came out on top winning the series 2-1. The results were 0-4, 1-3, and 8-7 (Yankees score is listed first). So can the Yankees gain revenge? Or will it be more joy for the Rays?
At home, the Rays have a 42-23 record. It’s on the road that Kevin Cash’s team has the majority of their struggles. A perfect example of their away day problems came last week when they lost two matches away at the Red Sox (9-8 and 5-1).
With this being a close series to call, the odds should be decent when they are announced later in the week. I think on current form, a home win has to be the bet, and I will make a series win for the Tampa Bay Rays my betting pick.
