PointsBet Overview
PointsBet was founded in 2015 and is based out of Australia. They are only recently moving into the market in the United States, with a particular focus on the East Coast. For years, they have been more focused on the markets and regulations most important to Canadian and Australian bettors.
PointsBet has been working to make a name for itself while in the shadow of its larger competitors. They have done this by sponsoring a curling tournament, in addition to other partnerships within the NFL and NBA. Another example is that PointsBet is the official sports betting partner of NBC Sports.
They have yet to break into many states, even as they push their mobile betting platform. We are not convinced that this is among the best online sportsbooks, even where they are legal. Unfortunately, they spend a lot of money on marketing and less on offering better odds and services to their customers.

For a long time, the majority of states were not able to license sportsbooks, nor, therefore, collect revenue from their operations. In 2018, this all changed when the Supreme Court ruled that Nevada’s monopoly on sports betting through the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act was unconstitutional.

PointsBet has worked on expanding its North American sports offerings. They first stepped out of Australia into Canada, which is a country that luckily shares a lot of professional sports leagues and interests with the United States. However, they still have some catching up to do with other top online sportsbooks.

One of the biggest problems with PointsBet is that they do not have an online casino. While this is not a make-or-break deal for all online sports bettors, it just seems silly not to sign up at a place where you can also enjoy a poker game now and then.
The desktop site is opaque. It becomes hard to enter the site and explore without first creating an account. This is kind of frustrating because we can make better decisions if we have more information.
PointsBet Mobile Betting
The PointsBet mobile platform is not much better than their desktop version, if at all. You still cannot explore the site at all before signing up and making an account, even if it does improve a bit once you sign in.
It is fairly easy to navigate the page, and the text is clear. All the actions you have to take in order to place a bet are clearly labeled. Really their mobile site is identical to their desktop site, making it a bit weird for users.
Also, there is an app to download here. If you visit the site with your mobile device, be it a tablet or a smartphone, Apple or Android, there is an app for you.

You have plenty of customer service options at PointsBet. Your first stop should probably be the frequently asked questions, which allow you to troubleshoot and potentially solve your problem all on your own.
