- What: Dmitry Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez
- When: Saturday, November 5th in Abu Dhabi
- Time: 5 PM ET
In one of the most exciting fights of the year, Dmitry Bivol looks to retain his WBA world title when he faces a very tough opponent in Mexican Gilberto Ramirez on Saturday evening. This fight will take place in Abu Dhabi and the main event is expected to get started around 5 PM ET. This will be Ramirez's first title shot after moving up to light heavyweight three years ago. Bivol put himself on the map in his last bout by beating the popular Canelo Alvarez in 12 rounds in May, shocking the world. Ramirez also fought in May, taking down Dominic Boesel in four rounds via knockout. Find the Bivol vs Ramirez picks below.

Dmitry Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez Odds
Odds | |
---|---|
Dmitry Bivol | -375 |
Gilberto Ramirez | +275 |
Bivol is a heavy -375 favorite to win this fight and sits at +350 odds to win via KO, TKO, or DQ. This is frankly no surprise given the opponent he just beat. Ramirez comes back as a +275 moneyline underdog. He's never lost a fight, going 44-0 in his career, while Bivol is 20-0 with 11 knockouts.
Bivol vs Ramirez Preview
Bivol is certainly still riding a high after defeating Canelo, making Alvarez look like an average fighter. Practically no one has been able to do that since Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Russian used his impressive 1-2 combinations to wear down Canelo and did a great job of controlling the middle of the ring. Bivol will be the smaller boxer in Saturday's matchup, but he does have a speed and quickness advantage over Ramirez. He's also the more technical fighter of the two. It's also important to note that Bivol has fought more difficult oppositions in the past than Ramirez. There's a good chance this bout goes close to the distance. Bivol is no stranger to defending a belt, either. This is the ninth time he's doing so. He's honestly at the peak of his career right now after the Alvarez win and cannot be taken for granted.
Ramirez is a reigning super-middleweight champion, defending his belt five times before making the jump to light-heavyweight. The southpaw possesses serious power in both hands and can find a knockout at any given time. It really didn't take long for the Mazatlan, Mexico native to KO Boesel earlier this year, putting him on the canvas in the fourth round. Ramirez's usual style of trying to wear down his opponent with powerful body shots might be difficult against Bivol, who likes to move around a lot in the ring and has fantastic footwork. There is no doubt that Bivol is the fighter with more IQ but Ramirez does have the power to end this bout at any given moment. His last four fights did end via knockout as well. There is evidence. But, Saturday is surely going to be one of his toughest tests in recent memory since moving up to this weight class.
Bivol vs Ramirez Picks
This is a really tough fight to call. You have a guy in Bivol who likes to stay tall, use his world-class jab to do damage, and keep his feet moving around the ring. Then in Ramirez, there's a boxer with an immense left hook that isn't always the most stable defensively.
Saturday has the makings of a very entertaining fight. Despite the knockout history for both guys, I really don't see this bout ending that way. Instead, it will go Bivol's way via unanimous decision. His experience and boxing IQ will shine through.
