With that in mind, a few candidates come to mind. One has to be St. John's. This was a team that went 18-15 last year and 7-13 in the Big East. They had tournament aspirations early but faltered late and lost in the second round of the Big East Tournament to Marquette. Mike Anderson was fired and Rick Pitino was promptly hired. It was that hire along with the assistants that did not create some buzz until later in the summer.

Now, the Huskies are the hunted and that could be quite the challenge. Few believed Connecticut could win the National Championship. Even fewer think they can come anywhere close to repeating in 2023-24.
There is a this thought process that it cannot happen. Although, the Huskies started last year at +6000, this season they roll in at a mere +1800 on Bovada which still carries a little value. Finally, the +500 to reach the Final Four is not entirely unreasonable either. Most were offering +350 to +450 there.
