So, will 2024 be the year that Novak Djokovic sweeps the Grand Slams? Or will it be the year that Carlos Alcaraz finally dethrones the Serbian as the king of menâs tennis? And there is even the possibility that it might be the year that Jannik Sinner breaks into the Grand Slam winnersâ ring.
Betting to win the 2024 Menâs Australian Open
Novak Djokovic starts the Australian Open as the favorite at +110. His closest betting rival is Carlos Alcaraz at +325.
In the last Grand Slam, the 2023 US Open, Djokovic was +125 and Alcaraz +190. The third favorite at Flushing Meadows was Daniil Medvedev at +1200. The third favorite at Melbourne Park is Jannik Sinner at +700, with Medvedev at +900. The further development of Sinner seems to have closed the market behind Djokovic.

No Rafa at Melbourne Park this year
Further helping the cause of Novak Djokovicâs attempts to win his 25th Grand Slam is the withdrawal from the competition of Rafael Nadal.
The Spaniard looked in good form in the recent Brisbane International, his comeback tournament after a year out injured. But in his quarter-final defeat to Jordan Thompson on Friday, Nadal suffered a micro tear in a muscle which has forced him to pull out of the Melbourne Park event.
Hi all, during my last match in Brisbane I had a small problem on a muscle that as you know made me worried. Once I got to Melbourne I have had the chance to make an MRI and I have micro tear on a muscle, not in the same part where I had the injury and thatâs good news.

The chances are that after a year out, winning the Australian Open would have been a big ask for Nadal. But his absence wonât hinder Djokovicâs chances, thatâs for sure. Whoever steps in to replace the legendary Spaniard certainly wonât be of the same quality.
Djokovic looking for 11th Australian Open title
Novak Djokovic has won the Australian Open a record ten times. He is the defending champion, having won the title in 2023, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 6â3, 7â6, 7â6.
Djokovic would eventually win three of the four Grand Slams in 2023. Only Carlos Alcarazâs win in the final of Wimbledon prevented the Serbian from sweeping the four Slams.
With the King of Clay Rafael Nadal struggling for fitness again, Djokovic has a chance of winning the French Open later this year. And with Carlos Alcaraz waiting in the wings, and Djokovic not getting any younger, this may well be the Serbianâs last chance to sweep the Grand Slams. This makes him even more likely to throw everything he has at winning the Australian Open.
Alcaraz looking to challenge Novak for top-dog status again
We all know that as Novak Djokovic ages, his powers of recovery and skills will start to wane. In early 2023, it looked like Spanish wonder-kid Carlos Alcaraz was going to overthrow Novak at the top of the menâs game. The Spaniard did assume the World No.1 ranking. But after his sensational win at Wimbledon, Alcaraz fell away, and Djokovic returned to the top spot and showed his rival who the real boss is.
Carlos Alcaraz will know that he can compete with Djokovic. His win at Wimbledon came in the one Grand Slam most thought would favor Novak. Alcaraz will have another go at overthrowing Djokovic in 2024. He will be looking to displace Novak, and he will be restarting his challenge at the Australian Open.
Our 2024 Australian Open Menâs Winner Betting Picks
We expect Carlos Alcaraz to challenge Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open and throughout 2024. But that said, at this moment, we do feel that Novak still has the upper hand over his younger rival.
Alcaraz will win a Grand Slam in 2024, of which we have no doubt. But we believe it will come later in the year, and for that reason, we make Novak Djokovic our pick to win the Australian Open.
We are naming two picks for this competition, and our second pick is for Jannik Sinner to win. A small side bet on the Italian is advised. He is in good form and will feel he can go all the way.
