Alcaraz still looks the best bet to win the Men's US Open

Only four men remain in the men’s singles at the 2023 US Open. The defending champion is Carlos Alcaraz (+125), but Novak Djokovic (-120) is the favorite to win. Both players have one more hurdle to jump to make it to Sunday’s final. Can they do it? Here we look ahead to the remainder of the tournament and tell you who will win in our updated US Open tennis betting picks.

  • Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are joined in the last four by Daniil Medvedev and Ben Shelton
  • Alcaraz lost his favorites tag to win the US Open after suffering a defeat to Djokovic in the Cincinnati Masters
  • Carlos Alcaraz is the defending US Open champion. Djokovic is looking for his fourth title at Flushing Meadow and his first since 2018
  • Between them, Djokovic (Aus and FR) and Alcaraz (Wim) have won all three Grand Slams in 2023

Betting to win the 2023 US Open

After his recent win over Carlos Alcaraz at the Cincinnati Masters, Novak Djokovic took over from the young Spaniard as the favorite to win the US Open with the best online tennis betting sites.

Little has changed as the tournament has progressed. Both men have worked their respective ways through the opening rounds without too many problems, meaning Djokovic is still the favorite in the latest US Open odds.

Novak Djokovic started the tournament at +125, with Carlos Alcaraz at +190. The odds now read Djokovic at -120 and Alcaraz at +125. Joining them in the final four is No.3 seed Daniil Medvedev at +1000 and unseeded American Ben Shelton, who is +4000.

Ben Shelton+4000+4000+4000

If we take the seedings as a guideline, the draw is favoring Novak Djokovic, as he faces the unseeded Shelton in his semi-final. Alvarez has the No.3 seed Medvedev standing in his way of a place in the final.

This could be helping to hold up the Spaniard’s price to win the competition and keep Djokovic at odds-on.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the odds if the top two seeds make Sunday’s final as expected. Could there be the possibility of a flip?

Shelton vs. Djokovic

At the start of the men’s 2023 US Open, all the talk was about who would win the competition between the new big two in men’s tennis.

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have had some titanic battles in recent months, and most seasoned observers expected that to also be the case at Flushing Meadow this year.

But a new name has entered the fray. Ben Shelton has shaken up the world of tennis, and the 20-year-old American now has the chance to create history and knock the three-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic out of the competition when the two meet at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in their semi-final.

Djokovic is favored to win the match-up. In fact, at odds of -1800, he is a massive betting favorite. Ben Shelton is +1000 to create the biggest shock seen at Flushing Meadow for decades.

We feel Shelton has the personality to get the crowd on his side and maybe trouble Djokovic. But the Serb has been there and done it that often, it’s almost impossible to see anything but another win for the multipe US Open champion.

We are most definitely not backing Djokovic at -1800. Just in case. Instead, back Novak to cover the spread of -7.5 at odds of -117.

Alcaraz vs. Medvedev

Almost bizarrely, this match looks easier to call. Carlos Alcaraz has blitzed his way through the competition, dropping only one set en route to the last four.

Alcaraz is -355 to see off Daniil Medvedev and take his place in Sunday’s final, Medvedev is +285 to take his place in the final for the third time.

Medvedev has the pedigree to reach a US Open final. He has won the competition before and is out on his own as the best player on the circuit behind the big two.

But this has the feel of a mismatch. Medvedev may have beaten Andrey Rublev in three sets (6-4 6-3 6-4) in Wednesday’s quarter-final, but he looked uncomfortable in the soaring New York heat and humidity. At one point he was heard saying ‘One player is going to die’ in the win over Rublev.

We can only see a win for Alcaraz here. And we feel it will be comfortable. Back Alcaraz to win.

Our US Open Men’s Singles Winner Pick

At the start of the tournament, we picked Alcaraz to win. He may have lost to Djokovic in Cincinnati, but that was a three-set match, and the US Open is a five-set competition.

We’ve seen nothing to make us change our minds. We are still happy to go with Alcaraz to win the competition.
