Italy's Jannik Sinner has won the past two Australian Open men's singles titles. If he's looking for any advice on what it takes to threepeat as tournament champion, he won't have to look far.

Ten-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is also in the field. Twice, he's won the Aussie Open men's singles title three years in a row. Djokovic did it from 2011-13 and again from 2019-21.

Australian Open Men's Singles Top Contenders

Djokovic is the only player to win the tournament three years in a row since the open era of the Australian Open began in 1969. Sinner is among 12 to win men's singles titles in back-to-back years. That list also includes Djokovic, who did it in 2015-16.

When it comes to the ATP Tour, the Italian player is Mr. Hard Court. Sinner led all male players last year with a 50-3 record on hard-court surfaces.

He's won 30 in a row on indoor hard courts. While the Australian Open isn't technically an indoor event, the three main surfaces can all be covered by retractable roofs in the event of inclement weather.

Carlos Alcaraz (+150)

Both times that Sinner and Alcaraz have met in Grand Slams on a hard court, Alcaraz was the winner. But they've never met in the Australian Open.

This tournament has proven to be an Achilles Heel for the Spaniard. He's won the other three Grand Slam events multiple times. However, Alcaraz has never come close Down Under, exiting in the quarterfinals each of the past two years.

Novak Djokovic (+1400)

Last year in Australia was the perfect summation of where Djokovic is in his career. He reached the semifinals, setting a record for most Grand Slam matches won. Then he was forced to retire from his semifinal due to injury.

Alexander Zverev (+2000)

Zverev lost last year's final 3-6, 6-6(4-7), 3-6 to Sinner. The German player has reached the final in three of the four Grand Slam tournaments.

He's also a six-time semifinalist. But he's never won a Grand Slam event.

Daniil Medvedev (+2500)

It's been three times unlucky for Medvedev. He lost the Aussie Open final in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Medvedev did win the 2021 US Open and has been a two-time finalist in that tourney.

Ben Shelton (+4000)

Shelton was a losing semifinalist to Sinner in last year's tournament. He was also a semifinalist in the 2023 US Open.

Taylor Fritz (+4000)

The No. 4 seed last year, Fritz, exited in the third round. He reached the quarterfinals in 2024.
