Conor McGregor returned to the UFC, and the comeback ended in just over a minute. His UFC 329 main event against Max Holloway was stopped 69 seconds into the first round after McGregor suffered a knee injury. Holloway received the TKO victory, bringing an anticlimactic end to one of the year’s most anticipated fights.

There are still several UFC betting opportunities remaining in July before UFC 330 takes place in August. Dricus du Plessis faces Kamaru Usman in Oklahoma City on July 18, while Magomed Ankalaev meets Bogdan Guskov in Abu Dhabi on July 25. UFC 330 then takes place on August 15, with Islam Makhachev defending the welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry. Keep reading for the latest UFC betting news, line movement and market analysis.

Biggest UFC betting storylines in July

UFC news moves fast, but these are the recent storylines that matter most to bettors and the potential impact each one could have on upcoming markets:

DDP vs. Usman likely has title implications

Is Paddy Pimblett a title contender again?

The end of McGregor in the UFC?

The biggest remaining fight in July is Dricus Du Plessis vs. Kamaru Usman, who headline the UFC Fight Night card on July 18. The 39-year-old Usman is moving up to middleweight to face the former champion of the division, DDP. The betting odds strongly favor DDP, who is -275. A win from DDP and one would think he’d be in line for a title shot against Strickland, someone he owns two wins against. Usman has also beat Strickland, and an upset over DDP (+225 odds currently) could ascend him up the weight class rankings at light speed.
The biggest star coming out of UFC 329 is Pimblett. In the co-main event, he promptly submitted Benoit Saint-Denis in less than a minute despite being a slight underdog (+130). More than that, he received a superstar reaction from the crowd. The reaction and performance could put him in line for another title shot — a rematch against Justin Gaethje. Maybe UFC will force him to win one more fight (Charles Oliveira anyone?) before they make the fight, but Paddy’s star is burning bright and UFC usually ascends those fighters quickly.
McGregor’s UFC career may finally be over. A torn ACL at UFC 329 is another significant setback for a fighter who is now 38 years old. Rehab for the injury plus a proper training camp puts any return for McGregor at least a year away. He does have one fight left in his UFC contract so there’s a glimmer of hope we’ll once again hear “Notorious” in a UFC arena again, but this really may be it for McGregor…

Largest UFC line movements this July

One of the biggest edges you can ever have as a bettor is to spot line movements. By that, we mean when odds swing big-time in one direction.

This could be due to news (an injury happened) or, and this is where the edge lies, betting activity. Say if sharp bettors (aka professionals) are piling on one side of the bet, they might know something. That’s not to say they’re never wrong, but they’re pros for a reason, and you should at least be aware of which side of a wager they’re leaning toward.

We want to share some of the biggest line shifts we’ve seen in the last few weeks. It’s on you to act or not act on this info, but you should know how odds are shifting in real time. Here are some examples:

  • Holloway-McGregor produced one of the wildest odds swings of any UFC fight this year: Holloway opened around -270 before shooting up to as high as -450. But as more public money came in on McGregor, those odds went as low as -220 on Holloway. By fight time, Holloway was back in the -300 range. The fight is over, but the movement shows why bettors should monitor the market. Those who backed Holloway near -220 received a much better price than those who took him at -450.

UFC fight odds we’re fading

One of the clear signs of a successful bettor is evaluating fights not just in terms of style or who wins, but in terms of betting value for the given wager. Simply put, the best bettors stay away from fights if the risk-reward ratio isn’t there.

That is why we use this section to highlight markets where the moneyline may be priced too heavily toward one side. In those cases, skipping the bet or considering the underdog may offer better value.

Admittedly, these suggestions will be harder to come by. Most UFC bookies are pros and adjust lines quickly if one side of the betting market is getting too thick. But, a few things do slip by, and we’ll try to call them out here, including this one:

  • Umar Nurmagomedov’s moneyline(-400) vs. Song Yadong (+300) is a skip: alright, this fight is still a ways away, August 29 in Shanghai, but we’d stay far away from the favorite's ML. Look, we’re as high on the one-loss Nurmagomedov as the next guy, but -400 feels way, way too rich against Song. The Chinese fighter will have a partisan crowd behind him in Shanghai, and that’s not a small advantage. We could be talked into an upset bet on Song, but Nurmagomedov's moneyline is too rich for our liking right now.

UFC betting markets we’re watching right now

These upcoming UFC markets feature short favorites, replacement opponents and prop bets that may offer more value than the straight moneyline.

Bettors should reassess the markets for Magomed Ankalaev vs. Bogdan Guskov. Ankalaev was originally scheduled to face Khalil Rountree Jr., but Rountree withdrew and Guskov stepped into the July 25 UFC Abu Dhabi main event. Any odds or analysis based on Ankalaev vs. Rountree are now outdated. Ankalaev is expected to be a significant favorite, but bettors should compare the updated moneyline and method-of-victory markets before placing a wager.

Islam Makhachev is a substantial favorite against Ian Machado Garry. The welterweight title fight headlines UFC 330 on August 15. Makhachev is currently listed around -375, while Garry is approximately +275. A straight moneyline bet on the champion offers a limited return at that price, so bettors may prefer a method-of-victory prop or include Makhachev in a parlay. Garry’s underdog price could also attract interest from bettors who believe his length and movement can limit Makhachev’s grappling.

Previous UFC betting news you might've missed

  • [July 2026]: UFC 329 ended with Max Holloway defeating Conor McGregor by first-round TKO after McGregor suffered a knee injury 69 seconds into the main event. Paddy Pimblett also strengthened his lightweight title case by submitting Benoit Saint Denis with a D’Arce choke just 52 seconds into the co-main event.
  • [July 2026]: Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson made a statement in his UFC debut, stopping Elisha Ellison in the first round at UFC 329. The win was so dominant that many already believe he has UFC heavyweight title potential despite barely picking up MMA in the last two years.
  • [July 2026]: UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall says he’s fully healthy, back in training, and has already told the UFC he’s ready to fight whenever and wherever. The obvious matchup is a rematch with interim champion Ciryl Gane after their first meeting ended in a no contest because of Gane’s accidental eye pokes. Multiple eye surgeries stemming from that bout threatened Aspinall’s career, but he appears to be back to normal (or so he says).
  • [July 2026]: Alex Pereira decided not to formally appeal his controversial knockout loss to Gane at UFC White House, despite accusing Gane of landing illegal strikes to the back of his head. Pereira has also ruled out returning to light heavyweight and is targeting a heavyweight comeback at Madison Square Garden in November.
  • [June 2026]: All eyes on Josh Hokit. He's now 10-0 after beating Derrick Lewis on the White House card. However, he drew national media attention for calling Michelle Obama a man in the post-fight interview. Given the attention and streaky wins, Hokit could be UFC's new big star and betting attraction.
