Best WNBA Bets Of July 28

There’s four different WNBA matchups on Thursday, July 28 and we have free betting picks on each one. Read this to get our best WNBA bets of the day, ones we think can make you a pretty penny!

Moneyline: Minnesota Lynx at Atlanta Dream

We begin in Atlanta, where the much-improved Dream are facing off against the second-worst team in the league (by standings), the Lynx. The online WNBA betting odds have pegged the home-court Dream as the moneyline favorites ever so slightly:

TeamBovadaBetOnline
Atlanta Dream-125-125
Minnesota Lynx+105+105

It’s safe to say Minnesota is in a dire situation. With only seven games to go in the regular season, the team finds itself two-and-a-half games out of a playoff spot. Worse, this is the start of a three-game road-trip and the team isn’t playing well at all. The Lynx have lost three in a row and four of its past five games. We don’t want to say this is a must-win, but boy, it’s the next closest thing to it.

The Dream are also fighting for their playoff lives. At the moment, they’re tied with Phoenix for the league’s eighth (though they own the tiebreaker over the Mercury) and final playoff bid. Earlier this season, Atlanta topped Minnesota 84-76, also on the Dream’s home floor, so you have to imagine they’ll have confidence entering Thursday’s tip-off.

There’s several players that are game-time decisions for Atlanta. But you know who’s finally healthy and making a massive difference? Tiffany Hayes. The guard missed the first 19 games of the season with a right knee injury, but has been back in the mix for a month now. Hayes leads the Dream in scoring with 16.4 points per game and is proving to be a killer one-two combo alongside rookie sensation Rhyne Howard. We’re betting the two lead Atlanta to a victory on their home floor.

Against The Spread: Seattle Storm at Connecticut Sun

Here’s an absolutely juicy matchup featuring two WNBA title-contending teams. As it stands, the Sun are home-court favorites over the Storm:

TeamBovadaBetOnline
Connecticut Sun spread (-3.5)-110-110
Seattle Storm spread (+3.5)-110-110

You can’t overlook the fact that Seattle on the road are wildly mediocre. Sure, this team is 18-10 overall (one game behind Connecticut in the standings), but they’re only 6-6 when playing away from Seattle.

We sense the Sun hold home-court and cover the spread. We’re just not quite sold on this Storm squad. The talent is there, but against stiff competition — which is exactly what Connecticut qualifies as — they’re just ok. Fade Seattle here.

Over/Under 160 points: Washington Mystics at Dallas Wings

Here’s another game that bookies are pegging closely as Dallas is pegged as the one-point favorite. However, we’re not betting the spread. Instead, we’re eying the Mystics-Wings over/under that’s set at 160 points:

OutcomeBovadaBetOnline
Over 160 points scored-110-110
Under 160 points scored-110-110

This game features two so-so offenses. The Wings are averaging 82.1 points per game, which ranks sixth overall. The Mystics are slightly behind them with a 79.5-point average and ninth-ranked offense.

While the offenses are comparable, you can’t say the same on the defensive end. It doesn’t get better than Washington’s defense. The unit is giving up 75 points per game — best in the league. Dallas, on the other hand, are surrendering 82.7 defensively, which is sixth in the WNBA.

However, you also can’t overlook that Elena Delle Donne will NOT be in the Mystic lineup come Thursday. She is getting rest and is listed as out. Without her, Washington is missing it’s lynchpin. Delle Donne’s presence will especially be missed on offense. We mean, she scored 25 a few nights ago in a win over New York. Without her, we envision this matchup going under.

Against The Spread: Los Angeles Sparks at Phoenix Mercury

TeamBovadaBetOnline
LA Sparks spread (-3.5)-110-110
Phoenix Mercury spread (+3.5)-110-110

We’re here to tell you one thing and one thing only: fade the Sparks when betting the spread. That’s been a winning sports betting strategy most of 2022 and we’re sticking to it. This team is in shambles right now, even more so than they’ve been most of the season.

Let’s start with Liz Cambridge. She’s finally out, being let go by the organization earlier this week. The four-time WNBA All-Star has been a season-long distraction and it may be “addition by subtraction” with her a goner — but not immediately, not when her surrounding drama is still so heavy.

LA is also hammered with injuries. Sure, Chiney Ogwumike and Lexie Brown are back, but their health is far from 100 percent. Furthermore, pieces like Kristi Tolliver, Rae Burrell, and Amanda Zahui B. remain out of action.

The Sparks are a mess, which should open the door for Phoenix to take care of business. Hammer Mercury's spread here cause they might win in blowout fashion.
