Best Formula 1 Value Bets

These drivers aren't being packaged as championship favorites at the moment, but they each represent good investments relative to their prospective return.

Carl Sainz (+40000)

Oddsmakers seem to be expecting regression from Carl Sainz. We disagree.

Sainz has quickly become the face of McLaren racing. He finished sixth in the standings last year, tallying a career-high 96 points. At 25, it's reasonable to believe that the best has yet to come.

Sergio Perez (+50000)

Sergio Perez is intriguing by virtue of aggressive driving instincts. Even his Racing Point teammates have been known to discuss how unafraid he is to pass them on the track.

Last year's top-10 finish in the standings could give way to a much better season for Perez. He has never finished better than second in a race, but he has eight pole positions overall, and you know he's never going to slow-play any single event.

Daniil Kvyat (+150000)

Daniil Kvyat turned pro when he was still a teenager but has yet to build upon his strong arrival between 2012 and 2014. That might change this year.

Though oddsmakers aren't pegging him as a top-10 option, he hovered around that territory in the standings last year, finishing 13th in total points. He'll skyrocket up the standings if he pairs his consistent proximity to pole positions with a first-place finish or two.

Best Formula 1 Favorites

While these two racers won't provide as much bang for your buck, they stand out as the drivers most likely to win the whole darn thing.

Lewis Hamilton (-175)

Duh.

Lewis Hamilton has won six Formula 1 drivers championships, including each of the past three. Investing in futures odds that don't yield even money is never the safest betting practice, but Hamilton is as close as it gets to a sure thing.

Max Verstappen (+550)

At 22 years old, Max Verstappen is incredibly young for such a talented driver. He came onto the scene at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, at just 17, and he has improved in every year since.

Last season specifically, Verstappen showed flashes of superstardom, winning a career-high three races and finishing third in the standings.

2020 Formula 1 Drivers' Championship Prediction

It seems foolish to go against anyone who doesn't drive for Mercedes at this point. Hamilton is a dominant force, and his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, has picked up his fair share of victories. The Mercedes team won 15 of 21 races in 2019 and owned the top two spots in the standings. That's just absurd.

Still, this year feels like there could be a regime shift.

Verstappen appears to be next up among the biggest names. He added two more pole positions to last year's three victories, and if he stays on his current trajectory, he figures to bake in another two or three wins, which would position him to upset Hamilton's quest for a four-peat.

OSB Drivers Championship Prediction: Max Verstappen (+550)
