When the 2024 Formula 1 season gets underway in Bahrain in a few weeks, triple-World Champion Max Verstappen will be looking to win his fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship. In the latest Formula 1 futures market, Verstappen is the -375 betting favorite to make it four wins in four years. And it’s already looking clear that something extraordinary will have to happen to prevent the Dutchman from standing on the top of the podium again at the end of the 2024 season.
- Max Verstappen won an extraordinary 19 races out of 22 in 2023. The Dutchman won the Drivers’ Championship by a staggering margin of 290 points
- Verstappen’s Red Bull team were equally as dominant in the Constructors’ Championship, clinching the title after just 16 of the 22 races
- The 2024 season gets underway in Bahrain, with a Saturday race on March 2nd. The season ends on December 9th, with the final race taking place in Abu Dhabi
- In total, there are 24 rounds in 2024, the most ever in a Formula 1 season. There are also six Sprint races. They will take place in China, Miami, Austria, Austin, São Paulo, and Qatar
Verstappen and Red Bull set to dominate 2024
The opening race of the 2024 Formula 1 season doesn’t take place until the start of March. Testing will be over three days (21st-23rd February) before the start of the race in Bahrain. But even with just under two months until Round One of the Drivers’ Championship, Max Verstappen has been installed as the odds-on favorite to win the title for a fourth successive year.

The same Formula 1 betting sites have also made Verstappen’s Red Bull team their favorite to win the Constructors’ Championship. The Austrian team has won the title for the previous two years, and they are -360 for the three-peat with BetOnline.
So, if the best Formula 1 online betting sites are correct, it looks set to be another season dominated by Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team.
Betting to win the 2024 Drivers’ Championship
Okay, we already know that Max Verstappen is just -375 to win his fourth title in four years. Second in the betting is Lando Norris at +700. Norris and his McLaren team enjoyed a great second half of the season in 2023, and by the time of the last race in Abu Dhabi, they had made considerable ground in closing the gap on Red Bull.
Even with continued progress, it’s hard to see McLaren getting close enough to the Verstappen/Red Bull combination to win the Drivers’ Championship. But in the event of something preventing Verstappen from winning, the best F1 betting sites see Norris as the most likely candidate to cash in.
Third in the betting is the seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. The British driver and his team endured a seriously frustrating 2023. Every time they looked like they were closing the gap on Red Bull, they suffered a setback.
It seemed to be one step forward and two back for Mercedes in 2023. It looks unlikely much will change this year, and as a result, Lewis Hamilton is the third favorite to win the Drivers’ Championship at +1100.

Best of the Rest
Interestingly, the best F1 betting sites are giving the respective No.2 drivers at Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren more chances of winning the Drivers’ Championship than either of the two Ferrari drivers.
Oscar Piastri of McLaren is fourth in the betting at +2000, with George Russell at +2200 and Sergio Perez at +2800. Charles Leclerc is the leading Ferrari driver in the betting at +3300. His teammate Carlos Sainz is down at +4000.
It’s hard to see any of the above beating Verstappen. And unless something dramatic happens in testing in February, the -375 on Verstappen winning his fourth title will soon disappear.

Of the 22 races, the team won 21. The only race they didn’t win was Round 16 in Singapore, where Carlos Sainz recorded the only victory of the season for his Ferrari team.

The winning margins for Verstappen did get slightly closer towards the end of the season. But as the odds of -360 on Red Bull suggest, the margins haven’t closed enough.
Mercedes (+500) are the closest betting rivals to Red Bull. But given Norris and Piastri are expected to do well this year, it is slightly surprising to see the Silver Arrows ahead of McLaren (+550) in the betting.
The stuttering Ferrari team is +950 to turn their fortunes around in 2024. Aston Martin is the only other team in the running. But they only have Fernando Alonso likely to be contesting for podium finishes. Hence why they are out at +3300.
McLaren looks like the team most likely to upset Red Bull. And at +550, they are worth a small outside wager to win the 2024 Constructors Championship.
