After an excitement-filled day in Las Vegas where Joey Logano booked the first spot in next month's championship race in Phoenix, we now look ahead to the Dixie Vodka 400 in Miami, the second race of the round of 8. Logano won't have much to worry about across the next few weeks, but seven other drivers will need to be at their absolute best on Sunday at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. As for betting favorites, Tyler Reddick comes in as a +700 frontrunner, followed by Denny Hamlin (+800), Kyle Larson (+850), Ross Chastain (+900), and Christopher Bell (+1000). The Dixie Vodka 400 in Miami is a 1.5-mile, 80-80-107 lap setup. The race will get started around 2:30 PM ET. William Byron won the 2021 edition, while Denny Hamlin came in first in 2020. He's actually been in pole position for five straight years.
Dixie Vodka 400 Betting Preview
There is a reason Reddick is a favorite to win this weekend. He's been nothing short of spectacular in this race, finishing as a runner-up last year and never finishing worst than fourth at Homestead. It just feels like it's only a matter of time until he wins this. While he's already out of the playoff picture, a victory is a victory. Reddick also has absolutely nothing to lose here and can just go out there, enjoy himself, and hopefully find a positive result. Keep an eye on him.
Hamlin is in good shape at the moment, securing a fifth-place finish last weekend in Vegas and also ended up in fifth in Talladega at the beginning of the month. As previously mentioned, Hamlin typically thrives on this track, winning two years ago and owning three wins overall at Homestead. He's also got a bit of motivation here because Hamlin is currently fourth in the playoff standings and a big result on Sunday could be crucial for his fate as the postseason rolls on.
Kyle Larson is another driver who is out of the playoffs but is a serious contender in the Dixie Vodka 400 picks. He's finished top five in four of his last six races at Homestead, finishing in fourth in 2021. He also tends to always be at the front at some point in this race. Larson has the experience to make some noise this weekend. At +1000 odds, he could be worth a flyer.
Byron is a driver who can't be ignored because he did win this race a year ago. He's also on the playoff bubble right now and needs a respectable outcome on Sunday. Byron also has top-10 finishes in his last seven outings, which is definitely a good sign for this race. Like Hamlin, he has something to play for here and is familiar with the track.
Elliott did win the regular season but he's struggled across the last two weeks, finishing in 20th in Charlotte and 21st in Vegas. He's also never won at Homestead but does have a few top-10 finishes. Nevertheless, Elliott just isn't driving that well as of late. He's probably not a great pick here.
Dixie Vodka 400 Picks
Reddick and Hamlin are probably the best bets here. I expect both to be contenders, but I'm liking Hamlin to win this one. He's got the most victories of anyone in the Cup Series at Homestead and Joe Gibbs Racing is typically quite impressive on intermediate tracks. At +800 odds, take Hamlin to finish in top spot and then also put some money down on Reddick to land in the top five.
