Warriors vs Suns Preview

Golden State has looked pretty solid so far, beating the Lakers on Opening Night and then Sacramento on Sunday. Their only loss came against reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets. By no surprise, Steph Curry led the charge at home versus the Kings, pouring in 33 points while draining 7 of 12 from three-point land. He definitely got some help too as Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole both dropped 24 each. Big man James Wiseman meanwhile continued to make his presence felt, scoring 14 points and grabbing six rebounds. However, the Warriors weren't great inside here, getting absolutely bullied on the boards and outscored in the paint, 64-48. They actually had a huge lead heading into the fourth quarter when a lot of the young guys got more of a run but Sacramento almost came back, scoring 31 points in the final period to just 17 for the Dubs. On a more positive note, Steve Kerr's squad did what they do best and that's shoot the triple. They sank 42% of them, with Poole also going 3 for 5 to complement Curry from beyond the arc.

The Suns are once looking like a contender early on and Sunday's victory over the Clippers was perhaps the first sign Phoenix is for real. LA is one of the title favorites for the 2023 championship with Kawhi Leonard back alongside Paul George and an extremely deep core, but Monty Williams' squad could care less, defeating them by a convincing 17 points on the road. Devin Booker proved once again that he is on the brink of being a superstar, torching the Clips for 35 points on 13 for 21 shooting from the field. Book has been doing a much better job of getting downhill and attacking the basket through the first few games of the campaign and it showed here. Deandre Ayton was the next closest scorer with 13 and eight rebounds, while Chris Paul went for seven points and 11 assists. Phoenix came out red-hot in the opening quarter and quickly set the tone, outscoring LA 33-18. They never really let their foot off the gas pedal and continued to roll. The ball movement looked terrific, dishing out a total of 29 assists which resulted in lots of clean looks. Phoenix never trailed in this contest, leading by as many as 22.

Warriors vs Suns Prediction

The spread is accurate here. I expect this to be a very close game that goes back and forth. Both teams are 1-2 against the spread so far as well. However, the last four meetings weren't any closer than four points. In my mind, Phoenix should cover. They just took out one of the top contenders in the league and kept PG and Kawhi at bay. Also, the Suns are lights out at home and Booker is on another level at the moment. Take the hosts to get it done here.
