NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks: Kentucky and North Carolina Top List

It was a classic of classics last year in the NCAA Championship Game as Kansas roared back then outlasted North Carolina by a mere possession. Some thought the Tar Heels had one last game in them after a storybook run that saw them end Duke's season in dramatic fashion. Considering all the magic, in the end, Kansas was the more balanced team that was built for another run. Kansas was one of last year's perennial favorites, but not for the NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks now.

The question now begs itself for this upcoming season. Who are the favorites when it comes to the NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks? It comes an as little surprise that the Tar Heels enter the season as one of the favorites when betting on the NCAA basketball online. Do any other teams like Kentucky or even Duke figure into the futures or maybe an even longer shot perhaps?

As one of the favorites to win the 2022-23 NCAA Championship per the BetOnline sportsbook and the top online sports betting sites, the North Carlina Tarheels are not a surprise. Again, as we said, they did their shocking run last year and return most of their top players. It stands to reason that they are among the top contenders.

Now, we have a few colleges among the contenders below for the NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks tabled. They are as follows below:

Kentucky Tops The NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks

That may seem like a surprise, but not really. Kentucky tops the NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks for good reason. They did have one of the best-recruiting classes for one. For two, Kentucky was 26-4, finished seventh in the final AP Poll, and just plain ran into a cinderella in Saint Peter's. Everyone knows what the Peacocks did next as they went on a run all the way to the Elite Eight. Kentucky and John Calipari should not have that problem this upcoming season.

A senior year of top forward Oscar Tshiebwe will not hurt either. The junior last year topped 17 points and 15 rebounds a game as few SEC or colleges, for that matter, could stop the forward. Losing players like Davion Mintz and Kellan Grady from the guard rotation hurt somewhat but that is minimal. This Kentucky team will be built to succeed, an SEC favorite, and will have national title hopes from day one.

It does not hurt that they lead the NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks. That serves as a motivational tool of sorts for them. Calipari has been here before, won titles before, and knows what to expect. Other teams will come gunning for Kentucky but with more reckless abandon.

Again, the pain of that loss does not go away. It fuels the motivation and drive that will become the 2022-23 season for Kentucky. Whether that leads to a National Championship or not is another question entirely. The fun part will be the questions and demons which will not surface until the 2023 NCAA "March Madness" starts. Until then, Kentucky just has to be Kentucky. They will never forget and kind of like Kansas last year, look out!

North Carolina Will Not Forget 2022 Run That Came Up Short

As Caleb Love clanked a shot or two late in that heartbreaking loss to Kansas in the National Championship, one knew that North Carolina still went on one unforgettable 2022 run that came up just short. Think about it. North Carolina managed to beat Duke to win the ACC Tournament. Then, they slid by top-seeded Baylor in the second round. From there, they outlasted an athletic UCLA team. Then, they routed Saint Peter's (the cinderella) before beating Duke yet again.

Now, that was a mouthful. Coach Hubert Davis did lose Brady Manek to graduation, but what if Matthew Meyer somehow ended up at North Carolina. Armando Bacot Jr. referenced this as such. It was quite interesting to see how this played out. Amazingly, Meyer could go anywhere but one has to wonder a little bit.

At least, the rumors are there. Regardless of what happens, North Carolina is one of the favorites to make a run and probably the class of the ACC as it stands currently. Yes, that is ahead of Duke. Honestly, the Tar Heels were one bad shooting half from winning the whole thing.

What is scary is that North Carolina could be even better this season. There will be more consistency to their game. Consider how their regular season went last year. Most forget the Tar Heels lost ten games. Yes, they won 29 but there was that middle portion of the season. Do not expect that this time around. North Carolina may even see its numbers shorten from +1000 as they remain one of the top NCAA Basketball 2022-23 Future Picks.

Anyone Else Come To Mind For the NCAA Basketball Futures?

Again, there are a couple of teams in mind. One will always be Duke at just +1200. No matter who steps in to replace the legend that is "Coach K", that team will be motivated regardless. As more than a few people said, the wheels will not fall off there, at least not right away.

The other team may just be the Kansas Jayhawks at +1800. The Jayhawks did lose a lot but they did win the national title last year. Christian Braun and Jalen Wilson are going to be some dynamic duo. Plus, that number for a team that just won the top prize carries some value.

Some other long shots include Michigan at +2500 and Illinois at +4000, if they were to somehow land Matthew Meyer.
