2022 March Madness: Who Will Win the South Bracket?

Both Arizona (+140) and Tennessee (+340) are going to command most of the attention here. But we actually like Houston (+400) to survive this bracket.

Though the Cougars did not get the friendliest pull as a No. 5 seed, they are the most balanced squad in this entire subset. According to KenPom's adjusted performance metrics, Houston profiles as a top-10 team in both offensive efficiency and defensive efficiency. Neither Arizona nor Tennessee comes close to doing the same.

What's more, the Cougars have plenty of guys used to soaking up heavy minutes. Kyle Edwards, Marcus Sasser (currently injured), Jamal Shead and Taze Moore all averaged at least 30 ticks per game during the regular season. Their stamina won't be thrown for a whirl amid a heavier workload.

2022 March Madness: Who Will Win the West Bracket?

Here are the latest odds on which team will win the West bracket of the 2022 March Madness tournament:

Pick to WinMyBookie
Gonzaga-198
Duke+380
Texas Tech+550
Arkansas+1200
Connecticut+1600
Alabama+2100
Memphis+2400
Michigan State+2900
Boise State+3400
Rutgers+3900
Notre Dame+3900
Davidson+4900
Vermont+6600
New Mexico State+8000
Montana State+12000
Cal State+12000
Georgia State+15000

There's no use fighting the odds on this one. Gonzaga (-198) is the monster favorite to come out of the West bracket, and we can't come up with an argument as to why they would not.

Whether they'll win it all is a separate matter. But the field they're facing prior to the Final Four isn't especially harrowing. Duke (+380) is nothing more than a paper tiger given how much their spacing and overall offense has declinedTexas Tech (+550) has similar problems on the offensive end. And next-up candidates like Arkansas (+1200), Connecticut (+1600) and Alabama (+2100) just don't entice us with their defense.

If you have the ability to stomach a bunch of risk, keep your eye on Memphis (+2400). This is not the same team that struggled to start the year. They have ranked among the most effective teams in the nation at both ends of the floor over the past couple of months. So while they're enterting as a nine-seed, they're more like a three- or four-seed in our book.

2022 March Madness: Who Will Win the Midwest Bracket?

Here are the latest odds on which team will win the Midwest bracket of the 2022 March Madness tournament:

Pick to WinMyBookie
Kansas+160
Auburn+224
Iowa+350
Wisconsin+900
LSU+1200
San Diego State+1400
Providence+1400
USC+1900
Miami-Florida+1900
Iowa State+1900
Creighton+2400
Richmond+4900
South Dakota State+6400
Colgate+8000
Texas A&M+12000
Texas Southern+12000
Jacksonville State+12000

Most will be thinking about Kansas (+160) or Auburn (+224) in this spot. We get it. They are flashier teams and more successful programs.

But San Diego State (+1400) is piquing our interest more than any other team.

Indeed, they haven't been the most consistent offensive squad. They don't get to the free-throw line a ton, and they're overly reliant on Matt Bradley's shot-making to get them by. Still, San Diego's defense is hellacious. They rank second in the nation in points allowed per 100 possessions when adjusting for strength of schedule.

History tells us elite defensive teams that hit a good amount of their threes can advance deep into the March Madness tournament. And as a defensive juggernaut nailing nearly 36 percent of their triples, San Diego State absolutely meets this criteria.

2022 March Madness: Who Will Win the East Bracket?

Here are the latest odds on which team will win the East bracket of the 2022 March Madness tournament:

Pick to WinMyBookie
Kentucky+150
Baylor+250
Purdue+300
UCLA+350
Texas+1000
Virginia Tech+1600
Saint Mary's+1900
North Carolina+1900
San Francisco+2900
Murray State+2900
Indiana+3400
Marquette+3900
Wyoming+8000
Yale+8000
Saint Peters+10000
Norfolk State+15000
Akron Wayne+100000

The East may have the toughest bracket to figure out. Kentucky (+150) enters as the deserved favorite, but we're not quite sure if we trust their outside shooting. Baylor (+250) is both the defending champion and wielding a top-15 offense and defense. Purdue (+300) might just have the best offense in the country.

People need to give UCLA (+350) more credit, too. They play a feisty brand of defense while also executing at an otherworldly level on the offensive side.

When push comes to shove, we lean Baylor. They always seem a couple of made threes away from world domination.
