Naoya Inoue Career Breakdown

Naoya Inoue has an unblemished 26-0 record in professional boxing. Included in his 26 wins are 23 knockouts, showing why the total rounds spread is so low.

Alongside Terrance Crawford, Inoue is a superstar of the sport. The Ring rates Crawford as the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. And he is the only man ahead of Japan’s Inoue in their eyes. Others say it is Inoue. It is that close.

To underline what the Japanese fighter has achieved, just look at his record. He was the first man to hold the undisputed title at junior featherweight. He was also the first fighter to unify the bantamweight division. As it stands, Inoue and Crawford are the only two men to unify two weight divisions.

Inoue has won his last seven fights by KO or TKO. The last man to take him the distance was Nonito Donaire in November 2019. Inoue won that fight by unanimous decision.

Luis Nery Career Breakdown

So how does Luis Nery follow that? Well, the short answer is he can’t.

Nevertheless, Nery does have a good boxing record. The 29-year-old Mexican has fought 36 times, winning 35 and losing one. His solitary defeat came against Brandon Figueroa when Nery fought the American for his then WBA super bantamweight title and also lost his own WBC title at the same time.

Nery recovered from that setback in May 2021 and is now on a four-fight winning streak. His most recent win came against Froilan Saludar, with Nery ending the contest early with a 2nd-round TKO victory.

Showcasing Nery’s punching power, 27 of his 35 wins have come by knockout. Eight were by decision.

Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery Picks and Predictions

A bet on Naoya Inoue at -1250 probably isn’t to be advised. The Japanese fighter should win, but Luis Nery is a strong puncher with a good KO record, so he does have the proverbial puncher's chance.

Naoya Inoue will know this. And using his superior boxing skills, it’s likely that Inoue will try to get the contest finished early. So for our betting pick, we are going for under 6.5 rounds on the total round market.

For a bet on Naoya Inoue, we would back him to win in the first half of the fight for the better odds.
