Premier League Darts is in Germany this week with Night Nine coming from the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin. Gerwyn Price took the honors in Newcastle, and he has now won the last two events back-to-back. Between them, Price and MVG have now won the previous five Nights. The action in this year’s Premier League Darts just seems to be getting better every week. Night Seven was sensational with Chris Dobey shocking the darting world by beating Michael van Gerwen 6-0 in their semi-final. After that we wondered if things could be better, and then along came Night Eight.
Last week in Newcastle we witnessed MVG defeat Nathan Aspinall 6-0 in their semi-final, with MVG averaging 100.2. In the other semi, Gerwyn Price labored to a 6-4 win over Chris Dobey with an average of just 86.98. Surely there could only be one winner in the final?

And what happens? MVG gets thrashed 6-1 by Price, with the ‘Iceman’ averaging 114.96. You simply couldn’t make this stuff up. The win was Price’s third of the Premier League season, and he now sits just 7 points behind MVG in the league table.

So far, between them, van Gerwen and Price have won six out of the eight nights in this year’s Premier League Darts season. World Number 1, Michael Smith has won one, and Chris Dobey won the other. This just highlights how difficult it is to beat the top players in this format.
Night Nine Winner Betting and Pick

Michael van Gerwen is the favorite, as he has been ahead of every night of the Premier League Darts season to date. MVG is just +175 to win this week. This is even shorter than he was in Newcastle, where he went into the competition at +200 to win.

The line up shows MVG has a quarter-final against Jonny Clayton. Clayton has lost at this stage in the last three weeks, but the matches have been against Gerwyn Price (twice) and MVG, showing how difficult the Premier League is.

Michael Smith is the player who finds himself in the favorable half of the draw this week. This also explains why the best darts betting sites have made him second favorite. The problem is, Smith isn’t in great form. Whereas, MVG and Price are, but they are scheduled to meet in the semi-final.
Smith lost to Price (6-2) in the last 16 of the European Darts Open on Sunday. Price also went on to beat MVG (6-4) in the quarter-finals, on his way to winning the event outright. Gerwyn Price is clearly the in-form player at the moment. Can he make it three wins in a row? It’s hard to bet against him on current form.

Two out of form players, so who do we go for here? Smith has lost at the quarter-finals stage for the last two weeks. The World Number 1 player is obviously two good for that run to keep going, so Smith has to be the pick to win the night’s opening match.
Nathan Aspinall -120 vs Chris Dobey +100
Aspinall scored a decent 6-5 win over Van den Bergh last week, but then reality kicked in as he was hammered 6-0 by MVG in the next round. As for Chris Dobey, he defeated Michael Smith 6-4 in the quarterf-final, but went down 6-4 to Price in the semi-final. Chris Dobey seems the man in better form.
Jonny Clayton +235 vs Michael van Gerwen -280
It’s really tough going for Jonny Clayton at the moment, and the last thing he needs is another match with MVG. Mighty Mike is way too short on the moneyline, so that only leaves us the handicap line, where MVG is +103 from -2.5 legs.
Peter Wright +186 vs Gerwyn Price -216
Similar to Jonny Clayton, Peter Wright is another guy suffering in the Premier League this season. Wright looks like a man wishing he was somewhere else and we can only see him losing again. Price is -133 on the handicap, starting from -1.5 legs. This looks the better pick to us.
