Premier League Darts Betting Picks

It’s time for the final week of the roadshow that is the Darts Premier League, with this week’s Night 16 action coming from the great Scottish city of Aberdeen. Michael Smith won Night 15 in Sheffield, and as a result, he could now top the points table with another win this week. Can he do it? Let’s take a look with our latest darts betting picks.

  • What; Premier League Darts - Night 16
  • Where; P&J Live, Aberdeen, Scotland
  • When; Thursday, May 18th, 2023
  • Time; 2 pm ET

Michael Smith pulled off this third win in succession in Sheffield, and a win in Aberdeen will see him become the first player to ever win four Nights in a row. The win, Smith’s fourth of the season, also saw him go second in the points table.

And don’t think that these guys aren’t bothered either, as whoever wins the table plays the guy who comes fourth. So the winner will probably play Jonny Clayton in the semi-final on finals night, as first plays fourth, and second plays third.

In order for Smith to top the table, he will first need to see Gerwyn Price knocked out in the quarter-final. After that, he needs to win the night. And don’t forget MVG, as he is still in the running, albeit, a massive outsider.

The betting to top the table reads, Gerwyn Price at -550, Michael Smith at +400, and MVG at +1600.

Betting to win Premier League Darts Night 16

In the betting to win Night 16, it's Gerwyn Price again who is leading the way with the best online darts betting sites. The Iceman is +240 to win his fifth night of the season. After Price, we see a massive change in the betting. This is because for the first time this season, MVG isn’t in the top two to win. This week, Michael Smith is second in the betting at +300, with MVG at +350.

Below we’ve put together an odds table with full betting to win Night 16. The odds are taken from the best online sports betting sites, which you can read more about on our sportsbook reviews page.

Night 16 Schedule and Winner Pick

At this stage of the competition, the following week’s fixtures are based on where a player is in the table, with first vs eighth, second vs seventh, etc. And as a result of this format, this has given us an absolute cracker of a match this week, with fourth in the table, Jonny Clayton, taking on fifth in the table, Nathan Aspinall.

Quarter-Finals

  1. Gerwyn Price vs Peter Wright
  2. Jonny Clayton vs Nathan Aspinall
  3. Michael Smith vs Dimitri Van den Bergh
  4. Michael van Gerwen vs Chris Dobey

For Jonny Clayton, it’s simple, win the match and he’s in finals night. For Nathan Aspinall, he has the opportunity to knock Clayton out on the night. But he will then need to go on and make the final to overtake Clayton on the points table and claim a place at the O2 Arena next week.

Semi-Finals

  1. Gerwyn Price/Peter Wright vs Jonny Clayton/Nathan Aspinall
  2. Michael Smith/Dimitri Van den Bergh vs Michael van Gerwen/Chris Dobey

If Aspinall does win his quarter-final against the Ferret, he may well find Clayton’s fellow Welshman Gerwyn Price standing in his way in the semi-final.

And speaking of Gerwyn Price, he’s our pick to win Night 16. It’s a tough call, given the form of Michael Smith. But the Iceman hasn’t won since Night 11, and he has been in three of the four finals since. So he must be due a win by now.

Now, onto our quarter-final match picks.

Gerwyn Price -240 vs Peter Wright +200

Peter Wright had a brief renaissance midway through the season, but it was practically over before it began.

Price is our pick to win the night, so we have to obviously pick him to win this match as well. -240 is no odds, but he is +114 giving away -2.5 legs on the handicap. We think it's worth the extra risk for the better odds.

Jonny Clayton -133 vs Nathan Aspinall +113

This looks like the pick of the quarter-final matches. A win for Clayton sees him qualify for the finals night. We think he will do it. So we're making a win for Jonny Clayton at -133 our pick to win this match.

Michael Smith -266 vs Dimitri Van den Bergh +221

A bit similar to Gerwyn Price's match with Peter Wright, this is more a question of not if Smith can win, but can he beat the spread.

The handicap is set at -2.5 legs for Smith, meaning he needs to win 6-3 or better. Dimitri Van den Bergh has had an awful Premier League, and the end can't come soon enough. Michael Smith is +114 to win on the handicap, and we think it's a bet worth the risk.

Michael van Gerwen -240 vs Chris Dobey +200

Despite his position in the table, it hasn't been too bad a Premier League campaign for Chris Dobey. Yes, the results don't look great, but he has performed far better than his results may suggest.

We can't pick him to beat MVG, but we also can't pick van Gerwen to win at -240. A couple of weeks back, MVG seemed to have gotten his mojo back. But last week he again looked like the MVG that has struggled in recent weeks.

Chris Dobey is +114 with a 1.5 leg start. Had it been a 2.5 legs start, we'd be backing him. But it's not, so we're going with MVG to cover the -1.5 legs at -144.
