Luke Littler's Impressive Form To Continue At Premier League Darts Night 14 In Aberdeen

The 2024 Premier League Darts season is intensifying as we head towards the crucial final stages of yet another captivating season. Luke Littler secured victory over Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall to advance to the final last week in Liverpool. He then beat Rob Cross comfortably to win the night. He is now almost certain to secure his place in the playoffs at London's O2 Arena next month. After also winning the Austrian Darts Open at the weekend, can Littler keep up this rich form in Aberdeen?

Quarter-Final Fixtures and Odds

  • Peter Wright (+210) vs. Michael Smith (-285)
  • Luke Littler (-250) vs. Nathan Aspinall (+185)
  • Michael van Gerwen (-185) vs. Rob Cross (+140)
  • Gerwyn Price (+135) vs. Luke Humphries (-175)

Peter Wright vs. Michael Smith

Peter Wright has looked a dejected figure at times in this campaign as he has struggled to find wins. He is bottom of the table with just four points, sixteen less than his opponent, fifth placed Michael Smith. Unfortunately for Wright, this form is probably going to continue in Aberdeen. It is hard to see anything other than an easy victory for Smith.

Luke Littler vs. Nathan Aspinall

Over the weekend, Luke Littler claimed victory at The Austrian Darts Open, his fourth title in his debut year. The 17-year-old currently leads the Premier League Darts standings and won the night last week in Liverpool.

These two players are forming an exciting rivalry in the sport. They played a highly entertaining match in the semi final in Liverpool. Littler staged a comeback by winning four consecutive legs, overturning a 5-2 deficit to secure a thrilling 6-5 victory, despite facing five match darts against him.

I expect another close and exciting match in Aberdeen.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Rob Cross

Rob Cross reached the final last week by beating Michael van Gerwen 6-2. Cross played excellently in the win but would later lose 6-2 in the final. Michael van Gerwen will be out for revenge. He has consistently shown that he is able to bounce back from defeats. I predict that van Gerwen will win this quarter-final and this might propel him to win his fifth night, the most of any player.

Gerwyn Price vs. Luke Humphries

These two both lost their quarter final matches last week. Price was defeated 6-3 by Littler while Humphries lost 6-2 to Nathan Aspinall. I am expecting Humphries to win this match convincingly. Price has only managed seven wins compared with Humphries' 15 wins.

Luke Humphries -2.5 To beat Gerwyn Price

Premier League Darts Information

The Premier League Darts tournament, launched on 20 January 2005 on Sky Sports, has evolved significantly since its inception. Originally held fortnightly in smaller UK venues, the event transitioned into a weekly fixture from February to May. Starting with seven players, it expanded to ten by 2013 and then reverted to eight players from 2022. These players are selected from the Professional Darts Corporation circuit and compete in a knockout-style format, with events also held in Europe at various venues.

The field comprises the top four players from the PDC Order of Merit, along with four wildcard selections, forming an elite eight-person lineup. Alongside the World Championship and the World Matchplay, the Premier League Darts is regarded as part of the sport's prestigious Triple Crown.
