This is a very difficult match to call. Dublin has the experience, but have the legs started to run out of gas over the past couple of years?
For example, in goal, Dublin has the returning hero, Stephen Cluxton. The man is regarded as the best keeper in the history of the sport. But up against Cluxton is Shane Ryan, widely regarded as the current best keeper in the GAA. Cluxton is 41, and Ryan is 27.
The match almost has an experience against youth feel about it. Kerry is the new upstart, and Dublin is the side who have been there, done it, and don’t just have the one t-shirt, they have a collection of them.
It’s almost like this is a chance for a last hurrah for this Dublin team. But it’s also a chance for Kerry to establish themselves as a force in the Gaelic game. They have an opportunity to win their second title in succession and start to forge their own recent dynasty, one comparable with Dublin’s over the past decade.
