Ferrari backed for a second F1 win of the season at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Formula 1 racing returns to the streets of Las Vegas for the first time since 1982, and when the race gets underway, Max Verstappen (-275) will be the betting favorite to win his 18th race of the 2023 season. But the two Ferrari drivers are being backed in for the win. In our latest Formula 1 betting picks, we look forward to the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix and tell you the best bets to make to profit from the race.

  • What; 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix - Round 22
  • Where; Las Vegas Street Circuit, Las Vegas, Nevada
  • When; Sunday, November 19th, 2023
  • Time; 1 am ET
  • Laps; 50
  • Track Length; 6.201 km

This is also the first time since 1982 there have been three F1 races held in the USA in one season. Back in 1982, the race in Vegas was known as the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, and the circuit used then differs greatly from the one the drivers will compete on this weekend.

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit is 6.2 km long. It is a night race, meaning Vegas will be lit up in all its majestic splendor, with the famous Vegas strip and landmarks like the Venetian Hotel included in the race. This will be the first race of a 10-year deal to keep F1 in Nevada for the next decade at the very least.

Who is the favorite to win the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix?

In the betting to win the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, the best Formula 1 online betting sites make Max Verstappen the favorite to win at -275. Verstappen did open up at -325 but has seen his odds lengthen over the past few days. His closest betting rivals are Lando Norris at +900, with Charles Leclerc at +1200, and Sergio Perez at +1600.

Lewis Hamilton was originally the third favorite at +1400, but he has seen his odds tumble to +1800 since the market opened. Also ahead of Hamilton in the betting is Carlos Sainz at +1600. Both Leclerc and Sainz have witnessed their odds shortening. Leclerc has seen the biggest change. He was originally +1800 before being cut to +1200. The odds on Sainz have gone from +2000 to his current +1600, as punters seem to be getting behind the two Ferrari drivers.

What’s behind the big gamble on Ferrari?

The Las Vegas circuit has been likened to the Monza circuit used for the Italian Grand Prix. Monza is regarded as the fastest F1 circuit on the roster, and according to the official F1 website, the drivers are expected to reach speeds similar to that of Monza in the race this weekend.

In the 2023 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Red Bull and Ferrari dominated. This has to be behind the dramatic cut in the odds of a Charles Leclerc win. Although, punters may be missing a trick here.

Although Charles Leclerc is regarded as the fastest Ferrari driver, it was Carlos Sainz who performed the better of the two at Monza this year. Sainz started the race in Pole Position, eventually finishing in third place, behind the winner, Max Verstappen, and second-placed Sergio Perez. Charles Leclerc did finish fourth. But he spent the whole weekend in Italy playing catchup with his Spanish teammate.

The big problem with Formula 1 this season seems to be the inconsistency of the chasing pack behind Red Bull. Mercedes and Ferrari were both expected to perform well in Brazil. But in the end, it was the exact opposite - especially in the case of Mercedes.

This weekend, we expect Ferrari to do well. But we will probably see a comeback from Mercedes. Every team apart from Red Bull all season and McLaren in the second half of the season has been too inconsistent to predict.

Nevertheless, short of throwing darts at a poster of drivers blindfolded, this is all the information we have to go on for our betting picks. So here goes.

Our Las Vegas Grand Prix betting picks

Max Verstappen will likely win the race. He is -275, which is the best odds he has been in what seems like months. Back him if you wish, but we are looking elsewhere and basing our picks on past results this season.

The two races won by the much-maligned Sergio Perez this season were on road circuits. He also finished an impressive second at Monza and looked somewhere near back to his best in Brazil in the last race. At +1600, we think Sergio Perez is a good pick.

We are also backing any Ferrari to win for our second pick. A lot of the money seems to be going on Charles Leclerc to win the Grand Prix. And while we understand that, we also can't ignore how well Carlos Sainz performed in Italy.

For any of these picks to work, we need a mistake from Max Verstappen. But given the unknown nature of this circuit, we feel they are risks worth taking, just in case Verstappen does have an off day.
