The MLB regular season is inching closer and closer toward the end. There’s about a month and half left — or around 40 or so games for each team. That puts as at a three quarters into the whole campaign. It’s more than enough time to get a pretty clear picture of the MVP race.

The best MLB betting sites have had these MLB odds up for months now. They’ve constantly been in flux based on hot or cold streaks, injuries, team success, and so on. But a few players are emerging as clear-cut favorites now.

AL MVP Betting Pick

You saw the odds above — it’s Aaron Judge or Cal Raleigh here. The two players are neck and neck, and it’s likely going to take all 40 games for one to create enough separation to win this award.

For now, it’s Judge’s award to lose. Not only is he the odds-on favorite, but he’s also the reigning winner. Judge won his second MVP award a year ago (his other win came in 2022). As of our writing, Judge, is hitting .339/.449/.711 with 37 home runs this season. He’s the league leader in batting average, on-base percentage, and OPS.

But… there’s a few things hindering Judge’s MVP chances. One is health. He just missed 10 days with a flexor strain. Judge has returned to the lineup, but it might take more time before he’s truly back to regular form. In that time away, Raleigh’s MVP hopes shot up.

Raleigh just crushed his 43rd home run of the season days ago, scoring the go-ahead run to lift his Mariners over the Rays. Fans chanted MVP after the homer, and they have good reason to do it. The homer extended Raleigh’s lead in both home runs and RBI (96) across the league. He’s 7 homers and 10 RBIs ahead of Judge in both categories. If not for Raleigh and the injury, Judge would have serious Triple Crown chances.

Call us crazy, but we think Raleigh is the more worthy bet here. He not only has the stats on his side, but also the story and team success. Raleigh, a catcher, is on track to set the all-time record for homers at the position. Salvador Perez holds the single-season record at 43. Raleigh’s heroics bas Seattle in wildcard position, two games ahead of the Yankees actually.

We think Raleigh has a few more big moments in him down the stretch. If he does, he could very easily vault Judge here, and that’s what we’re betting on. Momentum is more on Raleigh’s side than Judge, and we’ll ride that one to the bank!

NL MVP Betting Pick

It’s Shohei Ohtani’s world — and we’re just living in it. The modern-day Babe Ruth is once again doing Babe Ruth things, and it’s the reason Ohtani has all but locked up the NL MVP at staggering -10,000 odds.

Of course, Ohtani won the MVP a year ago, and the year before (while in the AL), and 2021 too. Last season, his first with the Dodgers, Ohtani won it off hitting alone as he didn’t pitch. This year? He’s back on the mound, dominating again, hence the lopsided MVP odds. The stats are seriously something to marvel at. As of this writing, Ohtani is hitting .276 with 39 homers and 75 RBIs. Pitching, he holds a 2.37 ERA in eight starts.

But… at those odds, there’s almost no point in betting Ohtani. There’s simply no money to be made unless you bet a massive stack. Even then, that’s a high-risk, low-reward bet that could be derailed by one Ohtani injury that sidelined him the rest of the season.

That’s why we advise throwing up a small prayer bet on someone not named Ohtani. The keyword is small because it’s a low probability outcome. But one stop worth wagering in case disaster strikes Ohtani.

For that prayer bet, we think the Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber is most deserving of it. He actually has two more home runs than Ohtani and leads the NL with 95 RBIs. Sure, he can’t pitch, but offensively, he’s outshine Ohtani ever slightly. In one month, he could grow that gap and really build his MVP case. That’s worth putting some money on, which by the way, would pay bigly at these odds.
