The Malaysia GP plays on the consciousness a little heading into the weekend. Yes, riders are trying to hold on to positions all while trying to score a win in the last race of the Far East leg. Right now, the hottest driver is Marco Bezzecchi who finished third last week in Australia despite that double long lap penalty. Now, one has to wonder if we truly have any idea of who could contend or win this week. Consider that the favorite, Marco Bezzecchi, candidly admits they have not tested well at Sepang. Also, last week's winner, Raul Fernandez, is brimming with confidence but understands this track is far from easy. The 15 turn course can serve up plenty of twists and ones straight from Mother Nature herself. Track conditions can be extremely volatile and eat up tires quickly.

Despite the hairpin and a 5.543 kilometer long course, speeds get easily to the limit and then some. Alex Marquez set the fastest race lap at 1:58.979 seconds in 2023. Times under 119 seconds are considered quite impressive on the track during races. Fermin Aldeguer won the Moto2 race that year and has a lot of experience on the course. The Ducati team has won this the past three years but with Bagnaia so off form, a longer shot probably has a better chance of winning Sunday.

Risking Aldeguer here is not a far off wager. He has won here before and knows the nuances of the track better than most.

Let us dig a little deeper with the MotoGP Malaysia bets. With what we saw last week in Australia, combined with the rise of one Italian and the fade of another, maybe another Spanish option is a possibility. The favorite is the favorite for a reason. However, the thinking is that he ends up on the podium just not the top step.
