YellaWood 500 Bets - Oh No It's A SuperSpeedway

We understand it has been awhile since we had a superspeedway race. Anyway, the playoffs are down to eight drivers and there are only two races until Phoenix. With Denny Hamlin pulling off the win in Vegas, options are a little slimmed down this week. Also, Talladega can be pretty wide open. It is hard to believe, but we are two days away from Raceday for the YellaWood 500 Bets. Our goal is scope out some prime NASCAR online betting apps to lend us a helping hand.

Now, it is Friday morning and Top 3, 5, and 10 numbers are on the board for the NASCAR race this Sunday afternoon. It is great to even see some driver and race props. Talladega is what we call a tri-oval superspeedway. Yes, it is a whopping 2.66 miles in length. The turns feature 33 degree banking while the tri-oval rolls in at 16.5 degrees.

This Fall event has been around for more than half a century. Ford dominated this Fall race before the pandemic. Since then, they have only won once. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. stunned the NASCAR world winning last year. Anyway, the odds to win are below:

YellaWood 500 Bets - The Round Of 8 Continues

Okay, the race at Talladega looms as the Round of 8 continues. Like we explained above, the YellaWood 500 bets is an inexact science. The Fall event does run a little different than its Spring predecessor, the Pennzoil 400. The race provides its fair share of collectors as we call them. Often, these accidents come out of nowhere. Usually, there are about 4-6 cautions. Here are the standings after the first round of the Round of 8. Note, we again use points from the cutoff line.

  • Denny Hamlin: Qualified for Phoenix
  • Kyle Larson: +35
  • Christopher Bell: +20
  • Chase Briscoe: +15
  • William Byron:  -15
  • Chase Elliott:  -23
  • Joey Logano:  -24
  • Ryan Blaney:  -31

2025 at Talladega is again a total wildcard. Two drivers (Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott) have won that are in playoff contention. Both this week need a big result as they are below the cutline. The problem when it comes to the large superspeedway is the centrifuge banking. It is one of four races that goes with the restrictor plates and for good reason. Anyway, lap lead percentages are all in the single digits here since 2022.

So, naturally, William Byron is the only driver who is 7-for-7 finishing inside the Top 20. That means he has mostly avoided the few collectors err accidents. The scary thing about Talladega is one feels that they are always due. Even Chase Elliott got caught up in a wreck last Fall and wound up 29th despite being second after Stage 2. He is hoping for no repeat this time around.

No driver has more than one win here since 2022. The problem is our early bets tanked last week because of a collision that claimed Ryan Blaney and a few others early. Where does one go naturally? Honestly, let us go back to the well and hope that Blaney gets a little luckier in Alabama.

YellaWood 500 Bets - What Other Choices Do We Have?

Can we look at what other choices do we have? The biggest problems are simple. It's Talladega! Is it as bad as trying to throw darts on a dartboard blindfolded? Honestly, it can be. Also, with Hamlin already in, does he race the race or does he sit back a bit here? How will that impact his teammates Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe? Both are above the cut line for now. Bell and Briscoe both have a driver rating below 70 here and that is cause for a little concern.

Diving more into the numbers might be going too far for a race like Talladega. It is one of those races where so little can be controlled. One second your driver is looking like a sure winner and the next that notion is gone. Multiple Top 5 results are spread out to five or six drivers maximum. Those drivers are in the +130 to +150 range to finish in the Top 5. It is rare to see plus money for every driver here. Take advantage of it and choose wisely.

Cue up Chase Elliott as our "Chase In A Hole" for this week. Hendrick always has the engine even with the plates to compete and win. It comes down to a little Lady Luck.

How About A Last Wager?

YellaWood 500 Bets asks how a last wager? Again, props span everywhere and in many directions when it comes to superspeedway restrictor plate racing. More drivers can win and more unexpectedly survive the attrition. Talladega is not the amount of cautions but the amount of cars when accidents happen. Chase Elliott for Top Chevy is now +500 and that will not last. Take William Byron for those who want to hedge.

Continued Championship Look Ahead

Keep looking ahead for the Championship in a few weeks. Again, look at those longer shots. Briscoe and Logano are +1000 and Elliott has lengthened to +650!
