As the NBA season hits its halfway mark, NBA All-Star Weekend is back in action.

Following last year's event in Salt Lake City, the spotlight shifts to Indianapolis, marking the city's first time hosting All-Star festivities in nearly four decades.

As in previous years, familiar faces of All-Star Weekend will grace the court alongside promising newcomers poised to become regular attendees.

This year's event also brings back a well-known All-Star Game format and introduces a groundbreaking competition for All-Star Saturday Night.

The festivities culminate on Sunday with the 73rd NBA All-Star Game, featuring a showdown between the Eastern and Western Conference All-Stars for the first time since 2017.

NBA All-Stars were selected through fan votes, current player votes, and media panel input.

Fan voting contributed 50 percent to determine the All-Star Game starters, while the remaining 50 percent was divided between current players and the media panel.

The All-Star ballot featured two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference.

Giannis Antetokounmpo surpassed LeBron James as the leading vote-getter overall. James, who came in second, will achieve an NBA-record 20th All-Star Game appearance.

With the All-Star Game returning to the traditional East-West format, the Eastern Conference All-Stars will square off against their Western Conference counterparts.

Unlike previous years, there will be no All-Star draft, but each conference's top vote-getter will assume the role of captain.

Indianapolis is hosting the All-Star game for the second time. With notable injuries affecting the Eastern Conference squad, many predict another strong showing from the West in 2024.

Let's delve into the history books: out of the past 18 matchups, the Western Conference emerged victorious in 12. Let's look at the starting lineups to see if this helps our decision-making.

The Western Conference starters are LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That is a formidable starting five.

They have tremendous size and passing. Steph Curry coming off the bench makes this a tough team to pick against.

On the other side of the court, we have the Eastern Conference starters Damian Lillard, Tyrese Haliburton, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid (who will not play due to injury). That is a strong group, but it's easy to see why the West is favored.

Oddsmakers have priced the Western Conference squad at -148 at BetOnline, indicating an implied probability of about 60%.

I agree with the oddsmakers and lean toward picking the Western Conference team.

In addition to the Eastern Conference squad missing Joel Embiid, some other players have been dealing with injuries. It appears Jalen Brunson is not 100% healthy as well.

There will be some solid replacements in Trae Young and Paolo Banchero for the Eastern Conference team. Those two are very talented wild cards who could shake up this game.

Over 366 Points-110-110-115
Under 366 Points-110-110-105

The current total has shifted slightly to 366, which still appears remarkably high.

However, considering the scoring trends in the NBA this season, it might not be as surprising as it seems.

Looking back at the last two meetings under the old format, we saw combined points totals of 369 and 374, respectively.

While these games typically lack physicality, the pace of play during those years was truly unprecedented. I know how little defense is played in these games, but the Under feels like the smart play.

I advise you to bet Under 366 points in the NBA All-Star Game at -110 odds.
