Philadelphia Flyers+125+120+125

Vancouver is a clear favorite with -140 odds for an implied win probability of 58.33%. Philadelphia comes back at +125 and has a 44.44% chance of taking this one at home. The Canucks are also favored at 1.5 on the puck line. The total in goals is set at 6.5.

As for recent meetings, it's not too often these two teams face off. In the last four games, they've both won two apiece. Last season, the Nucks hammered the Flyers 6-2.

Canucks Rolling

While it's just two games so far, Vancouver looks good. Beating the Oilers is impressive in itself and how they did it in the series opener really opened some eyes. The Canucks took Edmonton down by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday at home, leaving the Rogers Arena faithful with something to cheer about. Brock Boeser led the way with a massive game, scoring four goals. Meanwhile, J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson, and Quinn Hughes all had three assists each, too. Sure, this is a young team, but that performance showed they're perhaps not that far off competing.

Then on Saturday, Vancouver marched into Oil Country and won against the Oilers again, 4-3. This contest went back and forth before Sam Lafferty scored the game-winner in the third period. Nils Hoglander, Andrei Kuzmenko, and Jack Studnicka all found the back of the net as well. Pettersson had a pair of assists, too. In net, Casey DeSmith made 37 saves.

To be brutally honest, the Nucks were outplayed offensively but managed to produce the goods. Edmonton had a whopping 40 shots to just 16 for Vancouver. Regardless, they're showing guts. This first road trip should be a good test for them however, also facing the Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Nashville Predators after leaving Philadelphia.

What's evident right now is that the Canucks offense has a lot of versatility. Pettersson has a team-best six points, while Boeser has four goals. This is also the first time in seven years Vancouver has started 2-0, which should certainly instill some confidence in the squad.

First Home Game For Philly

The Flyers had their first two contests on the road but now return home for a quick two-game set against a pair of Western Conference teams: The Canucks and the Oilers. Philly started off the campaign on the right foot with a 4-2 victory over the Blue Jackets, with Travis Konecny starring. He scored two goals, while Joel Farabee and Cam Atkinson also added goals. Carter Hart also made 31 saves in between the posts.

However, things turned out a lot differently on Saturday in Ottawa, losing 5-2. The Sens were up 4-2 by the end of two periods and managed to hold on. Konecny stayed hot though with another goal and an assist. Defenceman Cam York also found the back of the net.

There aren't very high expectations for the Flyers this season after finishing second-last in the Metropolitan Division in 2022-23. Unfortunately, they're not following the trajectory of other Philadelphia sports teams like the Eagles and Phillies. That being said, the Flyers shouldn't be as bad in 2023-24. There's a promising core of talent and Konecny is looking to be a special talent. I mean, he reached the 30-goal mark in only 60 games last season. Perhaps Philly could push for a Wild Card spot, but actually coming out of the Metropolitan Division as a playoff team is a bit of a pipe dream at this point.

Canucks vs Flyers Picks

I really like how Vancouver is playing right now and I do think they should be able to grab their third consecutive win on Tuesday. Take the Canucks moneyline against the Flyers.
