Key Injuries A Factor For Both Teams
Both teams are going into this series with key performers on the shelf. For the Jets, first-line center Mark Schiefele has been out with an undisclosed injury since the first period of Game 5 against St. Louis. Josh Morrissey, the Jets' top defenseman, left during the first period of Game 7 with an undislcosed injury and didn't return to the game.
For Miro Heiskanen, he's still day to day. But if I'm guessing, he's probably not in for Game 1. We'll see tomorrow, however.

Dallas has been without its top defenseman Miro Heiskanen the entire NHL playoffs due to a knee injury. He's not expected to play Game 1 against Winnipeg. High-scoring forward Jason Robertson (lower-body injury) will be a game-time decision for Game 1.
American Goalie Showdown
Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck was the No. 1 netminder for Team USA in this year's 4 Nations Face Off. However, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner struggled during the Blues series. Hellebuyck was pulled from all three road games. He went 4-3 with a 3.85 goals-against average and .830 save percentage during opening-round play.

Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger was Hellebuyck's backup on Team USA, a factor Jets fans use to taunt him during games in Winnipeg. Oettinger has backstopped Dallas to the Stanley Cup final four two years in a row. He was 4-3 with a 2.85 GAA and .911 save percentage in the opening round against Colorado.
Our Picks for Dallas vs Winnipeg NHL Playoffs
The combination of physical and emotional fatigue from their Game 7 win over St. Louis will make it difficult for the Jets to find enough gas in the tank to take this game. For instance, defenseman Neil Pionk skated 46 minutes in that game. That's got to take a toll on a player.
The Stars will be the more rested team for Game 1 and that should work in their favor. And in the Colorado series, Dallas' best players - Mikko Rantanen, Wyatt Johnston, Roope Hintz - were their best players. That's a recipe for success. Take Dallas to get off to a winning start at Winnipeg in NHL playoffs.
