You know where you’re going to bet the race, so it’s time to get handicapping. These are the horses to focus on when you wager on the 2025 Arc de Triomphe:
Arc de Triomphe Win Contenders
Minnie Hauk has been untouchable this year, and the fact that Aidan O’Brien and the lads at Coolmore saw fit to supplement her to the Arc suggests that they think she’s ready to hold her form for one more race. The sophomore was up to the challenge of beating older foes in the Yorkshire Oaks (G1) last out, and she has won twice over softer going, including the Oaks (G1) at Epsom.
Sosie was the beaten favorite in this race last year, but is coming back to it in strong form. The 4-year-old has tables to turn on Byzantine Dream from the Prix Foy (G2), the local prep, but is drawn much better than that foe this time around. If you toss the race at Sandown – that was over firmer ground, and he likes the softer going he’ll get in Sunday’s Arc – you get a consistent horse primed to peak at a much better price than he was last year.
Arc de Triomphe Exotic Picks
White Birch will be one of the outsiders, but there are reasons why he can move forward. He has mostly been going shorter than 1 ½ miles, but going back to 2023 he showed some ability at the distance, including a third place finish in the Derby (G1) at Epsom behind Auguste Rodin. Though that was over better ground, his best races even at shorter trips have come over rain-affected footing, something he stands to get in the Arc.
Aventure and Gezora ran 1-2 in the Prix Vermeille (G1) last out, over the same course and distance as the Arc. That was a fillies’ and mares’ race, but is nonetheless a live prep – after all, Bluestocking and Aventure went 1-2 there last year and then 1-2 in the Arc. Aventure is the more experienced filly who just keeps showing up against the best, but sophomore Gezora will be too big a price not to consider for the frame.
