NASCAR Cup Series Futures: Chase Elliott Leading The Way

After Joey Logano took home the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship, we're now just weeks away from the 2023 season getting underway. All the action begins on February 5th in LA with the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum. The fourth race of the year is undoubtedly the biggest of the first month as Daytona 500 takes place on February 19th. As we look at the NASCAR Cup Series Futures for the upcoming campaign, it's no surprise to see Chase Elliott leading the way with +500 odds. He was the points leader heading into the playoff last year. Right behind him are Kyle Larson (+600), Denny Hamlin (+800), Christopher Bell (+1200), and Logano (+1200).

Before we get into the preview, odds, and predictions, check out our how-to bet on NASCAR page.

2023 NASCAR Cup Series Preview

Chase Elliott (+500)

Elliott was absolutely fantastic last season and showed the most consistency of any driver in the Cup Series. He had five wins throughout the year and secured 12 top-five finishes. Elliott won it all during the 2020 season. While the 27-year-old ultimately fell short of a title during the playoffs, he's finished within the top four in three consecutive years, which is why it's really no surprise to see him at the top of the odds board. He is that good. If Elliott can replicate his previous brilliance and carry it into the postseason, he has a solid chance of going all the way.

Kyle Larson (+600)

Larson actually saw his name at the top of the NASCAR Cup Series futures before the 2022 season began. But, he took a huge step back compared to 2021, his title-winning campaign. Larson collected a mere three wins and just 13 top-five finishes. In 21', the Hendrick Motorsports star had 10 victories and 20 top-five results. Needless to say, he was not nearly as productive. There is no question Larson will be motivated as ever to bounce back in 2023 after ending up in seventh in the regular season standings.

Denny Hamlin (+800)

Hamlin is always in the mix when it's all said and done each year and it was no different in 22'. He finished with two wins and 16 finishes in the top 10. That put Hamlin fifth in the standings, one of his worst campaigns in five seasons. That being said, he's experienced and has a lot of motivation after a rather underwhelming year. There's value here.

Joey Logano (+1200)

How can you not mention the reigning champion? Logano actually sat at +1200 prior to last season and despite taking the crown in Phoenix, he's at +1200 once again, the fourth-best odds in the Cup Series. Logano now has two Championships to his name and he really looked good last year, securing 11 top-five finishes and ending up in the top 10 on 17 occasions. He captured five victories in total including the playoffs. It's important to note that 16 of the last 30 winners in the Cup Series won in back-to-back seasons. That's certainly a good sign for Logano. He cannot be counted out.

NASCAR Cup Series Picks

It's tough to make any firm predictions at this point in our NASCAR Cup Series futures, but there are a couple of names who I believe should be considered frontrunners. Elliott will deliver and be in the mix until the very end. Splash some money on him and also throw some cash down on Logano. It's very common to see repeat winners in NASCAR, which bodes well for his chances. With the first race a couple of weeks away, these are two worthy picks.
