Breaking Down the Format for the League of Legends Hitpoint Masters Tournament
Before we get to our League of Legends Hitpoint Masters predictions, we have a brief overview of how the tournament will unfold. The event is essentially broken into two segments.
Hitpoint Masters Group Stage
First up, we have the group stage. Here’s how it works:
- Eight teams participated. This year’s field includes Team Brute, Parakeet Gaming, Dynamo Eclot, GLORE, Team UNiTY, eSuba, Entropiq and OG Sigma Esports.
- The group stage plays out as a double round robin.
- Each team plays 14 matches
- All matches are best-of-one
Hitpoint Masters Playoffs Stage
After the group stage, we enter the playoffs. They are structured as follows:
- The top four teams from the group stage make it into the playoffs
- First and second place are “seeded into Winners’ Finals”
- Third and fourth place are “seeded into Losers’ Round 1”
- The LoL Hitpoint Masters playoffs are double elimination.
- All matches in the playoffs stage are best of five.
Get it? Got it? Great. Let’s get to some Hitpoint Masters 2024 group stage head-to-head predictions.
Entropiq is a HEAVY Favorite to Take Down OGC Sigma Esports
As of this writing, Entropiq (-1429) has yet to play their first match during the League of Legends summer 2024 Hitpoint Masters tournament. They will debut on Tuesday, June 4, against Esuba.
However, we don’t need a preexisting tournament sample to make a prediction here. Entropiq is the overwhelming favorite for a reason.
Not only is OGC Sigma Esports (+650) working off a not-so-close loss to GLORE, but Entropiq has started to look like a team on the rise. Despite winning just above 50 percent of their recent matches, the Entropiq squad is getting off to faster starts and continues to showcase improving stamina.
Keep your eye on Strode, who is Entropiq’s 18-year-old up-and-comer who looked like a force to be reckoned with during the spring season.
OSB Prediction: Entropiq (-1429)
Team Brute Should be Able to Cruise Past Parakeet Gaming
Parakeet Gaming (+200) made relatively quick work of Esuba during their opening match at the League of Legends Hitpoint Masters. They are not expected to enjoy the same level of success against Team Brute (-278).
Truth be told, it’s hard to cobble together an upset case here. Team Brute is not the heaviest favorite for Friday’s action, but they’re getting a pretty decisive benefit of the doubt. This, of course, might seem a little weird given their relative lack of success at the highest level. Team Brute’s current roster has barely been together for one-third of a year, and their long-term winning percentage is in the red.
Still, Team Brute placed third during the League of Legends Winter Hitpoint Masters tournament. Theirs is yet another stock that appears to be on the climb. And given Parakeet Gaming’s own relative lack of experience together, we can’t help but tilt heavily toward the favorite.
OSB Prediction: Team Brute (-278)
Can eSuba Rebound from Disastrous League of Legends Hitpoint Masters Start Against Team UNiTY?
Oddsmakers believe the answer to this question is a “yes.” But it’s not a definitive yes.
While eSuba (-123) roster opens as the favorite over Team UNiTY (-110), the margin verges on negligible. The LoL Hitpoint Masters betting odds on this matchup basically amount to a pick ‘em.
To that end, we can’t quite get there for eSuba. They were blasted by Parakeet Gaming in their first Hitpoint Masters head-to-head, mustering only four total points and getting bounced in less than 34 minutes of game time.
Team UNiTY, meanwhile, was able to fend off Dynamo Eclot in their first head-to-head. They escaped with a 26-22 victory that took nearly 45 minutes to complete.
Indeed, Team UNiTY isn’t perfect. They have essentially vacillated between wins and losses in the most recent season. But that’s all a part of growth. And lately, based on their advancing assist rate, this group is playing more collaboratively than perhaps ever.
OSB Prediction: Team UNiTY (-110)
Does GLORE Have What It Takes to Upset Dynamo Eclot?
Dynamo Eclot (-161) is coming off a gut-wrenching loss to Team UNiTY. And while the competition is close, the squad has raised some red flags since winning the League of Legends Hitpoint Masters Tournament in Winter 2022.
Yet, Dynamo Eclot has looked much better over the past calendar year. In fact, they managed to make the Hitpoint Masters playoffs at the spring and summer runs in 2023.
To be fair, this roster still isn’t a sure thing. And they have not set the world on fire in 2024, specifically.
On top of that, GLORE (+121) just destroyed OGC Sigma Esports in their opening bout. Dynamo Eclot will be a tougher out, but they’re also on a 10-match losing streak, according to EscoreNews.com. We’re inclined to roll the dice on an upset, if only because of how good GLORE looked to kick the tournament off.
OSB Prediction: GLORE (+121)
