Max Verstappen favored for record breaking 17th win of the season in 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix

The 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix takes place this Sunday. Max Verstappen (-400) is favored to win again and will be looking for his 17th win of the 2023 season when the cars line up in São Paulo. There is also a Sprint Race on Saturday in Brazil, and here we look ahead to that along with the Grand Prix in our latest Formula 1 betting picks.

  • What; 2023 São Paulo (Brazilian) Grand Prix - Round 21
  • Where; Autódromo José Carlos Pace, São Paulo, Brazil
  • When; Sunday, November 5th, 2023
  • Time; noon ET
  • Laps; 71
  • Track Length; 4.309 km
  • Race Distance; 305.879 km

Max Verstappen won again in Mexico City last Sunday, and in doing so, he broke his own record set last year for the most wins in a season. The Dutchman now has 16 wins, and with three races remaining, he looks set to extend that lead even further.

Behind the triple-world champion, Lewis Hamilton finished second in Mexico City, with Charles Leclerc in third. Hamilton’s second place, coupled with Perez scoring a DNF, has impacted the betting to win the Drivers Championship without Verstappen. In that market, Hamilton is now just +125, with Perez still the favorite at -175.

Perez was -1000 to win this market earlier in the season. But with Hamilton now just 20 points behind, anybody who backed the Mexican at those prices will be sweating more than Perez is over his seat at Red Bull next season.

About the Brazilian Grand Prix

This race was first held in 1972. The official name is the São Paulo Grand Prix, and it is held at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, which is also known simply as Interlagos, which is the name of the area the track is in. The most successful driver in the history of the race is Alain Prost with six wins. The best-performing constructor across the 50 races held is McLaren with 12 wins - although the last of their wins came back in 2012.

Of the current crop of teams and drivers, Mercedes won the races in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2022. Red Bull won the races in 2013 and 2019. Only Ferrari in 2017 has broken that sequence of the top two constructors winning this race. There was no race in 2020. Of the drivers, Lewis Hamilton has won the race three times, Max Verstappen and George Russell once.

Betting to win the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix

After struggling with his car in the US Grand Prix, Max Verstappen saw his odds to win in Mexico City eased out to -300. After winning in Mexico, Max Verstappen is back at his usual -400 to win in Brazil.

Second in betting is Lewis Hamilton at +800. The seven-time British World Champion has second place in the Drivers Championship in his sights. This makes Hamilton all the more dangerous.

After Hamilton is Lando Norris at +1400, with the best Formula 1 online betting sites making Sergio Perez +1600 to make amends for his error of judgment in his home Grand Prix last week. Full Brazilian Grand Prix betting is available on our F1 odds table. More information about the bookmakers we use is on our betting bonuses and promotions page.

Our Brazilian Grand Prix Betting Picks

It now seems almost inevitable that Max Verstappen will win the remaining three Grand Prix races this season. The pack is relying on a mistake from the Dutchman. Unfortunately for them, he doesn’t look like making any.

Verstappen is -400 to win. We don’t see that as a value bet. But he keeps winning, so back him if you wish. We are going with Lewis Hamilton to win. The Brit looks pumped. And although we are relying on something going wrong for Verstappen, Hamilton (+800) looks like the best-placed driver to cash in if a mistake does happen.

Brazilian F1 Sprint Betting Picks

We’re also going to name some picks to win the F1 Sprint this Saturday. The shortened format does give the rest of the field a slightly better chance of defeating Verstappen. And with the odds still heavily favoring the Dutchman, we feel this represents good value to back his rivals.

Last Sunday, Lando Norris drove an inspired race to finish fifth in Mexico after starting in 19th place on the grid. Charles Leclerc also drove the majority of the race with a damaged car after his collision with Sergio Perez at the first corner and still managed to finish third.

Both drivers look in good form, and with both Norris and Leclerc priced at +1600 to win the Sprint, we think they look like good value betting picks.
