Will Cuban Run For President In 2024?
We are ten months shy of the 2024 US Presidential election. All signs point toward a rematch between incumbent Joe Biden and Donald Trump. But if we’re being honest, both candidates are deeply, deeply unpopular. If there was ever a time for a third independent candidate, 2024 would be it. Adding gasoline to the fire, Cuban also left his spot on ABC’s Shark Tank show. He’s been on it since 2009 so it was another long-term project which helped boost his fame. Political pundits online have mentioned Presidential candidates are barred from being employed by any type of TV show if running.
With both moves, Cuban now has the funds and fame to run for President. Essentially, he could have the same populist platform that Trump won on in 2016. By that, we mean a successful billionaire who campaigns on his ability to “get things done” and also one that can’t be “bought” by donors. Vivek Ramaswamy ran on a similar platform, though he wasn’t well-known to the American public beforehand like Cuban and Trump. So Cuban can run on this platform, albeit with a liberal bend — not conservative like Trump and Vivek.
For what it’s worth, Cuban has shot down rumors of a political run. According to him, he wants to spend time with his family (and the capital raise is for a possible casino venture). We wouldn’t doubt in the slightest if he’s baiting us. Cuban, like most politicians, has a massive, massive ego. And no title or position would be more satisfying than being the supreme commander of the United States.
