Brighton v Brentford Odds: Why Brighton Remains Favorite

Brighton was pegged as a club with top-five potential entering this year’s campaign, but have been inconsistent so far. Roberto De Zerbi's team snapped a six-game winless streak (comprising two losses and four draws) in their recent encounter against Nottingham Forest. However, their worrisome trend at home persists, despite being unbeaten, with three draws and two wins.

On the other hand, Brentford, positioned in 11th place, faced consecutive defeats. Thomas Frank's side enters this match having lost three of their last five away games, securing only one win during this stretch. Notably, Brentford are unbeaten in the last two editions of this fixture. The Bees earned a draw last time they were at the Amex, and won at home last fall.

Brentford Breakdown

After losing 1-0 to Arsenal, Brentford bounced back with a 3-1 win over Luton Town last time out. Brentford faced their first Premier League home game without scoring in 2023, marking the third overall instance this season alongside being held scoreless by Arsenal in the EFL Cup and West Ham United in the FA Cup. This loss of form has seen them slip from a top-half position in the table, now occupying 11th place. However, they trail local rivals Chelsea by tiebreaker alone, with over a third of the season completed.

Nathan Collins (ankle), Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (thigh), Kevin Schade (groin), and Josh Dasilva are anticipated to continue their absence. Ivan Toney is also set to remain sidelined, entering the final six weeks of his suspension. However, Mikkel Damsgaard should be ready to play.

Infirmary Filling Up Quickly in Brighton

Brighton is currently contending with a substantial injury roster, including defenders Adam Webster and Pervis Estupinan. Additionally, the versatile duo of Solly March and James Milner, along with forwards Danny Welbeck, Julio Enciso, and Kaoru Mitoma, are sidelined due to injuries. Following a 3-2 victory at Nottingham, the infirmary has only further filled up. Ansu Fati and Tariq Lamptey suffered injuries that, according to head coach Roberto de Zerbi, will keep them “out for a long time.”

Brighton’s focus has been primarily on non-league matches as of late. Their Europa League group stages duties are winding down to an end this month, an appearance that means much to Brighton and its supporters. The Seagulls had not ever qualified for European competition until this season.

With 10 points already earned, they have clinched a position to advance into the knockout rounds. And with one more game remaining against current group-toppers Marseille, they still have an opportunity to win the group outright and grasp a favorable draw. They will need to beat Marseille on the road to do so, however.

Brighton vs Brentford Prediction and Free Betting Pick

WIth Brighton just playing on Sunday, and having played last Thursday as well in Greece, they are sure to be fatigued. This club is being forced to reach deep into their bag of reserves for players due to injury, and their numbers are running thin. For what will be their 3rd game in 6 days, I don’t see much opportunity for Brighton to run as freely as they would like.

Brentford have been a good team all year, and a top-10 finish is not a crazy proposition. The Bees should believe they can compete with a downtrodden Brighton despite playing on the road. A dominant win over Luton Town is sure to have been rejuvenating after back-to-back losses. With momentum, fatigue, health and confidence on their side, I like Brentford’s chances in this one.

Give me Brentford to earn a result at even money. This is a great spot to fade the Seagulls, even if they are playing at the Amex. De Zerbi will be prioritizing longevity over short-term success and Brentford should be able to capitalize on that. However, their recent offensive struggles make me wary of backing them directly on the moneyline, so the double chance market will have to do.
