The 2022 FIFA World Cup group stages are wrapping up this week, and Brazil is hoping to end the opening round on a strong note with a win over Cameroon. Currently sitting atop Group G with two wins in as many games, Brazil has already secured its spot in the round of 16. As for Cameroon, they're on the chopping block with just one point. They'd need a stunning win over Brazil and a Switzerland loss in order to reach the next round.
We're going to make some Cameroon vs. Brazil betting picks, but before we dive into the action, make sure to check out our soccer betting guide in order to get all the tips and tricks you need. Additionally, take a look at our useful World Cup betting guide which has plenty of information.
Cameroon vs. Brazil Odds
Heading into the matchup, the odds heavily favor Brazil. Brazil enters with (-420) odds to win the game, whereas Cameroon (+1100) is considered a massive underdog. A draw is also unlikely, coming in at (+525) odds. The spread is set at Brazil -1.5 (-112) while the total is set for 3.0 goals, but leaning towards Under 3.0 (-122).
Brazil Best Bets
Brazil has looked the part of a World Cup favorite thus far into the tournament. It's only been two games, but Brazil has yet to concede a goal while scoring three themselves. In its first game, the Brazilians earned a 2-0 win over Serbia and followed it up by taking down Switzerland, 1-0. Their offense hasn't been quite as sharp as anticipated through the first round of play, but that could change against Cameroon.
Cameroon has conceded at least one goal in each game of the World Cup, and surrendered three goals against Switzerland in a wild 3-3 affair. While Brazil only managed one goal against Switzerland, they shouldn't have too much trouble getting good looks on goal against this Cameroon squad that surrendered 15 shots against Switzerland in its last game.
Brazil will be without Neymar once again as an ankle injury is set to keep him sidelined for the second consecutive game. His loss could hurt the offense, but they have plenty of talented stars ready to step up in his absence. Richarlison scored a brace in his World Cup debut against Serbia, so he's proven more than capable of getting the job done in front of the net.
The first bet we're going to take here is Brazil -1.5 (-112). They took down Serbia by two goals and I expect them to deliver a similar victory over Cameroon. While they've already secured their place in the next round, a win over Cameroon would guarantee Brazil first place in Group G, giving them a more beneficial matchup in the knockout stages. They'll be playing for keeps, and I think they have what it takes to win with a comfortable cushion.
Cameroon Best Bets
This matchup should be a tough one for Cameroon, who come in as huge underdogs against Brazil at (+1100) odds. It's possible they could pull off an upset to rival that of Saudi Arabia over Argentina, but more likely is that Cameroon will be held scoreless for the second time this tournament.
Cameroon failed to score against Switzerland before putting up three goals against Serbia, and while their scoring outburst in their last game was impressive, the Brazilian defense should be more difficult to get past. They've proven that in their first two games, and with Marquinhos leading the charge in the back line, they'll look to maintain their perfect record without conceding a goal in the first round of play.
In addition to Brazil picking up a two-goal win, I'm also expecting their stellar defense to hold Cameroon without a goal. While Maxime Choupo-Moting is a constant goalscoring threat, he'll struggle to find good looks on the net with the pressure Brazil figures to apply. Casemiro also figures to cause problems in the midfield for Cameroon, who will struggle to hold possession of the ball.
The second bet for this game is Cameroon Total Goals Under 0.5 (-136). There are talented goalscorers on this team undoubtedly, but they'll need to be provided with quality passes from the midfield, and I envision those to be hard to come by. Brazil's defense and midfield outmatch Cameroon, so even after their barrage of goals against Serbia, it'll be tough for them to beat Alisson.
In addition to those two bets, we're going to add one more play to the docket. Richarlison has been impressive at the World Cup and with Neymar out, he'll be one of the go-to guys in the attacking third once again. I'm expecting him to be looking to shoot often and early, and I think he will be the match's first goalscorer. At (+370) odds, Richarlison to score the game's first goal could be a bargain, though it's still a risk.
