Expect another mixed day for Josef Medek in the Czech League

Another day full of action is scheduled from the Czech Liga Pro on Friday. This week we’re looking at bets on the matches involving Josef Medek. Medek has been in good form recently, but did suffer a couple of setbacks recently. Can he have a successful session on the table this Friday? Let’s take a look with our latest table tennis betting picks.

  • Josef Medek will face off against Tomas Postelt, Jiri Nesnera, and Jan Zajicek in his three group matches on Friday
  • Medek has been in good form lately, winning nine of his previous 12 matches. But he has lost two of his last four in the Czech Liga Pro
  • He is odds on to win all his matches on Friday, and will be looking to sweep his opponents. But we don’t think he will

The Czech Liga Pro is a non-stop professional table tennis league with action on a daily basis. Alongside the Russian professional league, it is the premier table tennis competition. As well as the two above daily events, there are also regular Setka Cup competitions, and TT Elite Series.

All the above competitions can be wagered on with the best betting sites. For more information on the top betting sites for table tennis, check out our sportsbook reviews page.

Josef Medek has been away from the Czech Liga Pro roster for a few weeks now. In his last appearance he won his playoff 3-1 against Vaclav Hruska Jr 3-1. He qualified for the playoff by defeating the same player 3-1 in the group stage. He wasn’t convincing on the day though, losing his other two matches.

Josef Medek vs Tomas Postelt - 2 pm ET

Medek gets his day started against Tomas Postelt on Friday. Postelt is in good form having won his last five matches. Four of the wins came on Thursday, with victories over Jiri Nesnera (twice), Jan Kanera, and Lukas Jindrak.

Postelt’s two wins over Nesnera would have been especially sweet. He defeated the more fancied Nesnera 3-0 in the group match (11-8, 11-9, 11-8), and he then also defeated him in the playoff, this time 3-1 (11-9, 7-11, 11-2, and 11-5).

Postelt will come into this match as the underdog, but with plenty of confidence. We think he looks good enough to produce a shock and make him our pick to win the match.

Josef Medek vs Jiri Nesnera - 3.30 pm ET

The second match of the day for Josef Medek sees him taking on the aforementioned Jiri Nesnera. Nesnera had an up and down day in the Czech Liga Pro on Thursday, winning two and losing two.

In his opening match he defeated Jan Kanera 3-0, with the set scores being pretty comprehensive at 11-5, 11-9, and 11-4. He then followed that up with the disappointing 3-0 group stage defeat to Tomas Postelt, that we mentioned above.

In his third group stage match on Thursday, Nesnera defeated Lukas Jindrak 3-0. The set scores in this match were 11-4, 11-8, and 11-7.

Josef Medek is -175 to win this match, and he is +120 to win on the handicap giving up 1.5 sets. This means he needs to win either 3-0 or 3-1 to cover the spread. We think that Medek can do it. Nesnera is up and down, and his two losses to Postelt will have dealt a huge blow to his confidence. We’re backing Medek to cover the spread.

Josef Medek vs Jan Zajicek 4 pm ET

In Medek’s final match of the group stage, he will face Jan Zajicek. Of Medek’s three matches today, this one is the closest call in the betting. Medek is -163, Zajicek is +120.

Zajicek has been in good form lately, winning seven of his last eleven fixtures. This includes a six-match winning streak that only came to an end in the playoff against Zdenek Bilek on Tuesday.

Bilek won the playoff in convincing fashion. The scoreline was 11-6, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6. What will make that defeat all the more frustrating for Zajicek, is the fact he defeated Bilek 3-1 in the group stages earlier in the session, in what was a more convincing win (11-8, 9-11, 11-3, 11-6).

Zajicek can’t let one bad result derail him though. His winning streak may have come to an end, but in table tennis, players always defeat each other at some point. The high turnover of matches leads to his.

Overall Zajicek has been in good form. And we think that he could just sneak this one. So at odds against (+120), we are making a win for Jan Zajicek, our pick for this match.
