Best Bets To Win 2022 Canadian Open Brackets

Do not even think about betting on the 2022 Canadian Open (officially known as the National Bank Open) until you read this. We’re breaking down both the men’s and women’s singles brackets, before offering our best bets to win the 2022 Canadian Open. Stick around for expert betting advice on the upcoming event.

2022 Canadian Open Preview

Let’s begin with the who, what, where of the event, essentially preview of what lays ahead at the 2022 Canadian Open. The men’s side will begin on Friday, August 5, followed by the women’s event the following day. Each of the two will wrap up on August 14, 2022. Of course, there will also be doubles components on each side.

If you’re familiar with the tourney, you know that Toronto and Montreal alternate as hosts for the men’s and women’s competition. In 2022, the men will descend upon Montreal, while women flock to Toronto. Both events have hardcourt surfaces, which is something to pay attention to whilst betting.

Daniil Medvedev is the reigning champion on the men’s side, beating out Reilly Opelka last year. The Russian drew the number-one seed again in 2022. As for the women, Italy native Camila Giorgi will defend the title. Giorigi’s 2021 victory came out of nowhere as she was ranked No. 71 in the world at the time, and also made her first-ever WTA 1000 final appearance.

2022 Canadian Open: Men’s Betting Pick

We would start with the currently-favored men's players to win the Canadian Open. Odds are live top-used tennis betting sites and these seven have the best-chances at winning outright:

PlayerBetUSBetOnline
Daniil Medvedev+265+265
Carlos Alcaraz+450+450
Jannik Sinner+1000+1000
Nick Kyrgios+1000+1000
Stefanos Tsitsipas+1200+1200
Felix Auger-Aliassime+1600+1600
Matteo Berrettini+2000+2000

Only 56 players make up the men’s singles bracket. A few notable names will not be participating. The most notable of all is Novak Djokovic. Canada does not let non-citizens enter who are unvaccinated, a category Djokovic falls into. The same rule will likely keep Djokovic out of the US Open Grand Slam at month’s end. Injuries are also keeping Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev out of action in Montreal.

As for who is playing, we’re torn between Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz. By now, you know the deal with both — they’re the future of the sport, heirs to the throne once the “Big Three” are gone. But despite that, the two couldn’t play any more different from one another. At 6-foot-6, Medvedev plays the flat strokes as good as anyone. Alcaraz, though, prefers to smash topspins.

Still, we’re taking Medvedev to win. More than anything else, he’s proven himself during the summer hard court season in North America already. Medvedev has won titles in Toronto, Cincinnati, and New York before — which all prove his mettle on the current stretch of the tour. After an unlucky first half of the season, we fully expect to see the best out of Medvedev, hence our betting confidence in him in this spot.

2022 Canadian Open: Women’s Betting Pick

Sixty-four players make up the women’s bracket. Every single one of the top-30-ranked players are in the draw. The lone players missing among the top 42 are Angelique Kerber (ranked 31st overall) and Elina Svitolina (currently on a break from the tour as she is pregnant). While there are plenty of options to be picks to win the women's 2022 Canadian Open, we have our eyes on one player — and it's probably not who you think it is.

Look, Swiatek will likely be the odds-on favorite to win. Her 37-match-winning streak set earlier this year is the highest by any women this century. But you know what, we’re actually fading her. Obviously, betting against a historically-dominant player is rarely a smart betting strategy but hear us out on this one.

We love Halep as an underdog play. She is a former two-time winner of this event (2016 and 2018). Moreover, her two career titles is tied for fifth-most in event history. Throw in her recent strong form (going to the semis of Wimbledon) and Halep is worth taking an upset bet on here.
