  • What: UFC Fight Night
  • When: Saturday, December 2
  • Where: Moody Center in Austin, Texas

Beneil Dariush vs. Arman Tsarukyman Betting Pick

This is an excellent main event between two legit contenders in the lightweight division. Honestly, we thought the betting odds would be a little closer than they are. Here’s how the Dariush vs. Tsarukyman moneyline is being pegged at the top UFC betting sites right now:

FighterBetUSMyBookieBetOnline
Arman Tsarukyan-280-280-280
Beneil Dariush+220+220+220

As you see, Tsarukyman is a convincing favorite. He’s a beast of a wrestler who’s compiled a 20-3 record. A big thing he’ll have going for him in this fight is youth. Tsarukyman is six years younger than Dariush.

Dariush, though, is a slightly more balanced fighter than Tsarukyman. He’s not as good of a wrestler (maybe), but we’d favor him in striking even though Tsarukyman is no slouch. Dariush did get stopped by Charles Oliveira the last time we saw him but had been on an eight-fight win streak before it.

When analyzing this match, we can’t help but remember a common opponent of both — Mateusz Gamrot. He’s about the same level of a wrestler as Tsarukyman. But here’s the puzzling thing: Dariush was able to outwrestle and beat Gamrot, while Tsarukyman couldn’t. And again, we would think Tsarukyman is a better wrestler than Dariush but that result gives us second thoughts.

This is a tough bet, but we’re putting money on Dariush. Honestly, this is a value bet more than anything else. The odds seem mispriced for what feels like a 50-50 fight. In those scenarios, we’ll gladly take the plus-money fighter, especially at +220.

Devin Figueiredo vs. Rob Font Betting Pick

This becomes the co-main event after Dan Hooker was forced out of a matchup against Bobby Green. It’ll be fought at bantamweight. As it stands, here’s how the Figueiredo-Font moneyline odds shake out:

FighterBetUSMyBookieBetOnline
Rob Font-155-155-155
Deiveson Figueiredo+125+125+125

The big variable in this is the weight class. Figueiredo, if you remember, was a two-time flyweight champion. He famously battled Brandon Moreno four times in an all-time UFC series. This is Figueiredo's first fight at bantamweight. The question becomes, can the power that made him dangerous at flyweight translate in this new class? Welp, there’s no sure way of knowing until the bell rings.

We expect this fight to mostly be on the feet despite Figueiredo being well-versed in jiu-jitsu. Font is a guy who loves moving forward. No, he doesn’t have deadly power, but Font does have a high output. His strikes landed per minute is 5.71 to Figueiredo’s 3.09.

Honestly, both fighters are at a crossroads in their careers. Font is 36 and has lost three of his last four. Figueiredo is 35 and this weight jump feels like an attempt at extending his career. Our money is going to Figueiredo. Even with our questions about how he transitions to bantamweight, we can’t overlook his recent title experience. Font has never been close to that championship level.

Sean Brady vs. Kelvin Gastelum Betting Pick

The close fights just keep on coming this card. Here again, the Gastelum vs. Brady moneyline is a practical toss-up. Check it out:

FighterBetUSMyBookieBetOnline
Sean Brady-135-135-135
Kelvin Gastelum+115+115+115

Brady is the slight favorite, as he probably should be. He was 15-0 until dropping his last fight versus Belal Muhammad, who is in line for a title shot at welterweight. Still, Brady is a top-10 fighter who is a solid wrestler. He averages just under three takedowns a fight.

Then there’s Gastelum, who is tough to put a finger on. We mean, the 18-8 record is what it is. He’s fought (and mostly lost) to the best fighters at middleweight (Israel Adesanya, Chris Weidman, Robert Whitaker). Gastelum is moving up to welterweight for this one after beating the brakes off Chris Curtis last time we saw him. Gastelum looked like a new man that fight.

However, we’re not sold on Gastelum yet. He’s still a guy who’s lost five of his last seven fights and is entering a brand-new division. Our money says Brady rebounds with a victory here.
