On August 28, 2017, the fight between Kubrat Pulev and Anthony Joshua’s card was announced. The fight was scheduled to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which seats up to 80,000 spectators. The card will be stacked with the best young stars in boxing, and there will be plenty of boxing betting opportunities to bet on.

There have been some serious bumps along the road over the past three years. No. 1 ranked Bulgarian fighter, Kubrat Pulev is a mandatory opponent for Anthony Joshua, announced in August 2017 after Joshua’s fight with Klitschko retired from boxing, cancelling their fight, and putting these fighters on each other’s paths.

Within one day of the event being announced, over 70,000 tickets were sold – the fastest-selling event in boxing. The Principality Stadium in Cardiff also has the largest indoor capacity of any event in boxing.

Of course, after the fight was announced, rumours circulated that Pulev suffered a shoulder injury while sparring, and Pulev’s team hid the injury from the IBF for a little over a week. Carlos Takam was tapped to replace Pulev with 12 days’ notice.

In Cardiff, the fight between Joshua and Takam was stopped prematurely by the referee in round ten with 1:34 on the clock. At the time of the stoppage, two judges had Joshua ahead at 89-81, and another with 90-80. Since then, he has claimed victory in three other fights but suffered his first loss against Andy Ruiz Jr. on June 1, 2019. His record currently sits at 23-1.

Finally, on March 2, 2020, the official announcement of the Pulev vs. Joshua fight was rescheduled. On June 20, 2020, the fighters are scheduled for a match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

With all sports essentially being cancelled right now, and especially Premier League being delayed, Tottenham may need the stadium, the world had hoped the June 20th fight date would go ahead.

However, the June 20 event has been cancelled, with the organizers rescheduling for December 12th, 2020 at The SSE Arena, Wembley.
