New York Giants will Keep Rolling with Week 11 Win Over Detroit Lions

If you're not taking the New York Giants seriously entering Week 11 of the 2022 NFL season, well, it's time to start.

The G-Men enter their tilt with the Detroit Lions at 7-2, with a defense that rains hellfire and an offense that shows increasing flashes of life. And people are starting to take notice. The Giants have been billed as underdogs in almost every game they've played this season. That's not the case for Week 11. All of the best online NFL betting sites have them as medium to heavy favorites over the Lions. But can New York make good on this love from the top linemakers? We're here to figure that out.

Before we dig into the nitty gritty of this matchup, here's a look at the latest NFL online betting odds for Giants vs. Lions, courtesy of the fine folks over at BetOnline:

These New York Giants Are For Real—and They're Going to Beat the Detroit Lions

Scoring on the Giants at home is increasingly becoming a futile endeavor. They allow just 17.4 points per game in the Meadowlands, a ridiculously low mark that has held up over the course of five home games thus far.

That is part of why people doubt them. Most of their games have come at home. Can they continue winning on the road? Truthfully, it's a fair question. But that's a concern for another week, because guess what? They're at home again.

Detroit, of course, has pieced together some truly explosive performances, including last week's 31-30 victory over the Chicago Bears. But that's largely an anomaly. Prior to Week 10, the Lions tallied six total points over their two previous road games. They have also yet to turn in a stellar offensive performance against a rock-solid defense.

This trend won't change against the Giants. They are the quintessential brick wall. They aren't flying at you, but they're also not moving. They will push back and hold their own. They eschew forcing turnovers in the name of blanketed coverage. And the approach is working.

Many will ultimately wonder whether they can score enough to win. That concern is getting old. The Giants are 29th in net yards per passing attempt, but they have a strong ground game thanks to star running back Saquon Barkley, and they've scored fewer than 20 points just once since Week 4. We're penciling this game in as a win for New York.

Should You Trust the Giants to Cover the Point Spread Against the Lions?

Here are the latest NFL point spread betting odds for Giants vs. Lions:

  • New York Giants, -3 (-118)
  • Detroit Lions, +3 (-104)

Three points doesn't seem like a huge spread, but then again, it can be during a Giants game. Only one of their games this season has been decided by double digits; it was their Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Through their seven victories, the Giants' average margin of victory is just five points.

Still, if this spread was 4.5 points, we'd be more inclined to second guess it. But given how well New York has performed at home, as well as Detroit's lack of exposure to truly great defenses, we're thinking the Giants should be able to win this one by something like five to eight points, if not more.

The Evidence Suggest that New York and Detroit will Hit the Under in Week 11

Below you can see the latest NFL over/under betting odds for the Lions vs. Giants:

  • Over 46.5 (-110)
  • Under 46.5 (-110)

Betting the over in a Giants game has proven to be a fool's errand this year. Just 22.8 percent of their contests have cleared the projected over.

What's more, this specific over feels incredibly ambitious. Only one Giants game this season has seen the score hit 47 or more points. The oddsmakers are placing a lot of stock in the Lions being able to move the ball through the air. And while their overall offensive stats might suggest they can, they've been equally prone to low-scoring efforts in which they're blown out.

In the end, we can't bring ourselves to even sniff the "over."

OSB Prediction: Under 46.5 (-110)
