Best NFL Draft Bets

Now that you're ready to make some NFL Draft bets, there’s no shortage of what you can go after. As we mentioned above, there are usually many folks who want to bet on who the first overall pick will be. That's a given. However, in 2021, Jordan Davis was widely expected to be the top pick, so if you bet on him straight-up to be taken by the Philadelphia Eagles, the payout wasn't all that high. You have to weigh a safe bet against a potential payout.

Another favorite bet on the NFL Draft is to try and guess which player a specific team will take later in the first round. The best thing bettors can do for this is to look for odds that could go either way, normally around the number 5 overall pick, though this can shift from one Draft round to the next.

Ultimately, it's not about which pick, but where the value is. Knowing which players offer what odds is going to be the deciding factor, as you can be sure that the scouts and teams know this. Keep track of players and teams' pick positions during the Draft because teams will look to select players to fill any gaps in their defensive and offensive lines.

Betting Odds for the NFL Draft 2024

In terms of the NFL Draft in 2024, this may be one of the more anticipated ones we've seen in quite some time because of how deep the positions will be on both sides of the ball.

Regardless of any games being pushed back for programs, players will always have the best opportunity to impress at the NFL Scouting Combine each February. At the event, you're able to make bets on who will run the fastest 40-yard dash, who will put up the most reps on the bench press, who will have the biggest hands, and so much more.

Betting on the NFL Scouting Combine isn't quite as sexy of an option as betting on the Draft, but it's still a ton of fun for everyone and a great way to check out the odds and NFL Draft betting options for all of the different players.

How Does the NFL Draft Order Work?

The NFL Draft has changed dramatically in recent years. It used to be a small meeting between GMs and college players, but now it's a multi-day event that travels across the country. Thousands of college players are considered by the 32 NFL teams.

The NFL Draft system serves two purposes: it funnels the best college football players into the NFL and it creates balance across the league, to prevent one team from dominating every season. To participate in the NFL Draft, college players must declare their availability.

The Draft order is determined based on the win percentages of all 32 teams at the end of the prior season. The team with the lowest win percentage is given the first pick in the Draft, while the Super Bowl champions receive the last pick. All 32 teams participate in seven rounds of drafting. Each team has one pick per round, though teams can trade their pick positions and the league can force a team to forfeit their position for rules violations.
