Entering Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season, four teams are currently 5-1 or better: The Philadelphia Eagles (6-0), Buffalo Bills (5-1), Minnesota Vikings (5-1) and New York Giants (6-1). Three of these squads, meanwhile, are also heavily favored in their Week 8 matchups. The team that's not? That would be the New York Giants. Again.
Underestimating the Giants has become the standard. It isn't just one instance, either. Pretty much all of the best NFL online betting sites in 2022 have decided the Giants are neither Super Bowl threats nor even weekly favorites. It was the same story in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And in Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens. And also in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers. But do you know what happened in all three instances? The New York Giants won.
Are they on track to do the same as underdogs against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, October 30, at 4:25 p.m EST? That's what we're here to figure out. But first, let's take a look at the NFL online betting odds for this Giants vs. Seahawks matchup, courtesy of our friends over at BetUS:

Everybody strapped in? Awesome. Let's get to our Giants vs. Seahawks predictions—which include picks for the outright winner, point spread, and over/under.
The New York Giants Probably Cannot Keep This Up, But Continue Riding Them Until the Flame Goes Out
Look, we get why people don't consider the Giants a legitimate 6-1 team. Their passing offense is bunk with Daniel Jones under center, and they have won a bunch of their games in crunch time. Sooner or later, they're not going to get that final-possession stop or late fourth-quarter score.
At the same time, we need to show some level of appreciation for the body of work that they've done. Indeed, they have capitalized on a fairly favorable schedule. But they've also beaten three legitimate playoff hopefuls now in the Packers, Ravens and Jaguars. New York no longer feels like a team that will suddenly dissipate into nothing. Their defense up front is a stalwart, and the offensive line has done a nice job opening up seams for both Daniel Jones himself when he rolls out and for superstar running back Saquon Barkley.
Giving the edge to the Seahawks in this contest is flat-out weird all things considered. Winning in Seattle is tough for opposing teams, and quarterback Geno Smith has led an offense that's much friskier than expected. Knowing the Giants aren't built to win shootouts, there is a scenario in which things get messy for New York. We just don't think they'll ever reach that point, thanks to the G-Men's defense.
OSB Prediction: New York Giants (+132)
Pick the Giants to Cover the Spread Against the Seahawks
Here are the latest NFL Week 8 point spread betting odds for the Giants vs. Seahawks:
- Seattle Seahawks, -3 (-110)
- New York Giants, +3 (-110)
If you're not prepared to invest in the Giants' moneyline but still think they will win (or almost win), then picking them to cover is a no-brainer. We have them taking this one outright. More than that, they have helped NFL point-spread bettors make a killing this season. New York is a jaw-dropping 6-1 against the spread of the year.
Most of that damage has come as an underdog on the moneyline, but it doesn't actually matter. For starters, that's what they're up against here. Mostly, though, the Giants' defense and ground game are both built to control the pace of play, which invariably leads to tightly contested affairs routinely decided by a field goal or less.
OSB Prediction: New York Giants, -3 (-110)
Is Betting the Over in New York Giants vs. Seattle Seahawks a Worthwhile Risk?
Here are the latest NFL Week 8 over/under betting odds for New York vs. Seattle:
- Over 44.5 (-110)
- Under 44.5 (-110)
Over-bettors have been treated to a thorough butt-kicking when they wager on the Giants. New York is a mind-melting 1-6 against the over this season. And it makes sense. They're barely averaging 21 points per game and don't trust Daniel Jones to throw much in one-possession contests.
Still, this feels a touch too low for our tastes. And yet, the Seahawks have actually struggled to put up points at home. They're averaging under 20 points per game in Seattle, which is a far cry from their season average. Life won't get any easier for them against the Giants' front seven. We expect to see a game that's not drastically dissimilar to others New York has played, in which they eke out a victory while the total score falls comfortably below 45 points.
OSB Prediction: Under 44.5 (-110)
